Retail Mannequins:
Bring Your Clothing to Life

Retail mannequins are full-body and torso display forms moulded to standard UK clothing sizes for presenting garments at their best in shop windows, floor positions, and countertop displays. Available in fibreglass (premium finish, boutique and window standard) and PE plastic (unbreakable, lightweight, high-volume retail standard). Head styles: abstract egg-head, headless, and realistic. Finishes: matt white, matt black, high gloss, and skin tone. Detachable arms, hands, and torso sections for fast outfit changes. Calf spigot base leaves the foot clear for shoe display.

A mannequin is the only display format that shows how a garment fits on a body at the point of sale. The shoulder line of a jacket, the drape of a dress, the break of a trouser on a shoe: none of these are communicable from a flat lay, a hanger, or a ghost mannequin product image. The display mannequin has been the primary visual merchandising tool in clothing retail for over a century precisely because no alternative has matched its effectiveness in communicating garment fit and inspiring purchase decisions.

Our mannequin range covers every retail demographic and format. For the type that matches your display requirement, see our dedicated collections: female mannequins (UK Size 8-10), male mannequins (38-40" chest), child mannequins for kidswear display, and mannequin torsos for countertop upper-body display. For advice on materials and sizing see our Mannequins Buying Guide.

Fibreglass and PE Plastic for Every Retail Environment

Fibreglass mannequins produce a higher quality paint finish with greater surface definition, making them the standard for boutique window display and photography where the quality of the mannequin surface must match the surrounding brand presentation. PE (polyethylene) plastic mannequins are virtually unbreakable: they do not chip or crack when dropped during outfit changes. PE models are substantially lighter, making them easier for staff to handle, and more practical for high-volume retailers where mannequins are dressed and undressed multiple times daily.

Bayonet Twist-Lock Outfit Changes in Minutes

All our full-body mannequins feature detachable arms, hands, and torso sections connected by bayonet twist-lock fittings. Removing and reattaching a limb takes one hand movement and under 10 seconds. A complete outfit change on a full-body mannequin takes 2 to 5 minutes with practice, without stretching garments over a rigid non-dismantling body or removing the mannequin from its display position. Fast outfit changes are the daily operational requirement of any retail floor with seasonal rotation and promotional display.

UK Standard Sizing for Sample-Fit Accuracy

Our female mannequins are moulded to UK Size 8-10, the industry standard sample size used by UK womenswear manufacturers. Our male mannequins are moulded to 38-40" chest, the standard for UK menswear. Our child mannequins cover sizes from toddler to pre-teen. Garments produced to these standard sizes hang correctly on these mannequins without pinning, padding, or adjustment, showing the garment as the designer intended rather than stretched or drooping on an incorrectly proportioned form.

Abstract, Headless and Realistic Head Options

Abstract egg-head mannequins have a smooth featureless head form that is contemporary, brand-neutral, and suitable for any customer demographic. They are the current default in UK fashion retail because they do not distract from the garment and do not conflict with any customer's self-image. Headless mannequins focus all attention on the garment silhouette and are widely used in womenswear and childrenswear. Realistic mannequins with sculpted facial features suit lifestyle and brand storytelling display in boutique fashion and premium sportswear.

Ghost Mannequin and Photography Applications

Abstract and headless mannequins in matt white and matt black finishes are used extensively in e-commerce product photography. The non-reflective matt surface eliminates lens glare and hot spots that create editing problems in studio photography. The invisible or ghost mannequin effect, where the mannequin is removed in post-production to leave a floating garment with the correct 3D fit, requires a mannequin correctly sized to the garment sample size for the effect to read naturally in the final image.

Torso Forms for Counter and Space-Constrained Display

Our mannequin torsos are upper-body forms on a base, presenting shirt, jacket, and knitwear fit at counter height without the floor footprint of a full standing mannequin. The practical choice for retailers with limited floor space, for countertop shirt and knitwear display at point of purchase, and for online sellers needing a space-efficient form for consistent product photography without a studio mannequin setup.

Female, Male, Child or Torso?

Choose the mannequin type based on the garment demographic and the display position. Full-body mannequins for window and floor display where the complete outfit must be visible. Torso forms for counter and upper-body display where floor footprint is constrained. Fibreglass for boutique and photography applications requiring premium surface finish. PE plastic for high-volume floor retail with frequent daily outfit changes.

For Womenswear and Fashion Retail

Our female mannequins at UK Size 8-10 cover abstract, headless, and realistic head styles in matt white, matt black, gloss, and skin tone finishes. Abstract and headless in matt white are the most versatile for mixed fashion retail. Realistic models in skin tone suit lifestyle and premium fashion display. For e-commerce product photography, abstract matt white provides the cleanest ghost mannequin effect with minimal editing.

For Menswear and Tailoring

Our male mannequins at 38-40" chest with reinforced heavy bases for menswear garment weight suit tailoring, formal menswear, and casual and sportswear display. Tempered glass and heavy steel bases provide the ballast required to support heavyweight winter coats and full suits without tipping. Calf spigot base attachment leaves the foot clear for shoe and boot display in window and floor positions.

For Childrenswear and Space-Efficient Display

Our child mannequins cover toddler through pre-teen sizes for accurate kidswear display. For retailers and online sellers with limited display space, our torso forms provide accurate upper-body garment display from a countertop base without requiring floor space, and are the most practical format for consistent e-commerce product photography across a clothing range.

What is the difference between fibreglass and PE plastic mannequins?
Fibreglass produces a higher quality paint finish with more surface definition and a more premium appearance. It is the standard for boutique window display and studio photography where the mannequin finish must match the surrounding presentation quality. Fibreglass can chip or crack if dropped during outfit changes and is heavier to handle. PE (polyethylene) plastic is virtually unbreakable, does not chip or crack on impact, and is substantially lighter. For high-volume retailers where mannequins are dressed and undressed multiple times daily, PE is more operationally practical. For boutiques with fewer mannequins that remain in window positions for extended periods between outfit changes, fibreglass provides the superior result.
What is a ghost mannequin and how does it work for e-commerce photography?
A ghost mannequin (also called an invisible mannequin) is a post-production photography technique where an abstract or headless mannequin is dressed in the garment, photographed, and then removed digitally in editing to leave a floating garment that retains the 3D shape and fit of the garment as it would appear on a body. This produces a more aspirational result than a flat lay while being faster and cheaper than using a model. Our abstract and headless mannequins in matt white provide the cleanest ghost mannequin result with the least editing time, as the matt surface produces no reflective glare or hot spots that complicate the digital removal process.
What size clothes do mannequins fit?
Female mannequins fit UK Size 8-10 (approximately 32" bust, 24" waist, 34" hips), the standard sample size for UK womenswear manufacturing. Male mannequins fit 38-40" chest and 30-32" waist, the UK menswear sample standard. Child mannequins are sized across the range from toddler (aged 2-3) through to pre-teen, check individual product pages for exact height and garment age sizing. Torso forms are sized to match the equivalent full-body mannequin so garments can be moved between a full-body mannequin and a torso form without refitting.
Do mannequins come with a base, and can I put shoes on them?
Yes. All full-body mannequins are supplied with a heavy-duty base in tempered glass or steel. The base connects to the mannequin via a calf spigot fitting: a rod that attaches to the back of the lower leg rather than through the foot sole, leaving the entire foot exposed and unobstructed. Shoes, boots, and trainers can be placed naturally on the foot for display and photography. The calf spigot connects using a supplied Allen key. All other body section connections use tool-free bayonet twist-lock fittings.
Are mannequin torsos suitable for e-commerce product photography?
Yes. Mannequin torsos are the most practical format for consistent e-commerce product photography across a garment range. The torso provides accurate chest and shoulder fit in a compact form that does not require studio floor space. For the ghost mannequin effect, a combination of a front torso shot and an inside-neck or back detail shot is typically used to composite the full garment appearance in post-production. Matt white and matt black torso forms produce the least lens glare for the cleanest editing workflow. Check individual product pages for torso dimensions against your garment sample size.
Can mannequins be transported between locations for pop-ups and events?
Yes. All our mannequins dismantle into torso, legs, and arm sections for compact storage and transport. The sections stack and nest for van packing. PE plastic models are lighter and less fragile for regular transport. Fibreglass sections are more susceptible to surface chipping during transport and benefit from protective foam or fabric wrapping between uses. For pop-up retail, market stalls, and travelling events where mannequins are transported regularly, the PE plastic range is the more practical choice.
