It stores compactly and is the most space-efficient format for creating a long continuous partition from a single unit. A mobile screen panel is typically a single or double-panel unit on lockable castors that rolls freely between positions. Mobile panels link together end-to-end via linking strips to create walls of any length, but each panel is a separate unit that stores individually rather than folding into a single compact stack. Mobile panels suit environments where individual screens are used in different positions throughout the building on different days; concertina units suit positions where the full wall length is always deployed together.

Do room dividers block sound?

Standard fabric-covered room dividers reduce sound transmission somewhat due to the fabric absorbing some high-frequency sound, but they do not provide significant noise reduction across the full frequency range. Are room dividers fire-rated and do I need fire-rated versions for a school?

Standard fabric-covered room dividers without fire-rating are not compliant for permanent positions in these areas. For a school hall or open area that is not a designated escape route, standard dividers are acceptable for the duration of use in that space. For positions that are circulation areas or that form part of a fire escape route while deployed, fire-rated Class B versions are the correct specification. For a hospital ward requiring a 10-metre screening bay, two units linked provide the full length. There is no practical maximum length when linking multiple units: the limit is the number of units available and the floor area of the space. Each additional unit adds its full extended length to the total partition run.
