Practical Advice
Fitting a Wall Display Cabinet: What Actually Matters
Wall cabinets are the format where installation questions outnumber product questions. Three things decide whether the fitting goes well.
The wall matters more than the fixing
A loaded cabinet is the cabinet's own weight plus glass shelves plus up to 12kg per shelf of contents. On brick or block, the supplied fixings with masonry plugs rated for that total are fine. On plasterboard, either fix into the studs or use heavy-duty hollow wall anchors rated well above the loaded weight, and never rely on plasterboard alone for a glass cabinet. If in doubt about the wall construction, find a stud.
Height is a decision, not an accident
For a home display, put the centre of the cabinet at standing eye level, roughly 1500mm to 1600mm to centre, so the collection reads at a glance. In retail, mount so the stock sits at customer eye level and the lock sits high. In schools, mounting height is also a safeguarding tool: high enough that the lock and contents are out of pupil reach, low enough that the display still does its job.
Two people, empty cabinet, level first
Always lift and mount with two people, always mount the cabinet empty, and get it level before the first shelf goes in, because glass shelves telegraph even a small lean and items will creep to one end. Load the shelves only after the cabinet is fixed, spreading weight across each shelf rather than grouping it centrally.

Plug and Play, Wireless, or LED Spotlights?
Displaysense wall display cabinets include LED lighting rather than offering it as an extra. Mains-powered plug and play models have integrated LED spotlights that work the moment the cabinet is mounted and plugged in, with no electrician required. Wireless LED models suit walls with no socket nearby, running on battery-powered units inside the cabinet. Both use zero-heat LEDs that will not warp plastic models, fade card packaging or discolour fabric over time.

Whichever you choose, position the cabinet so the spotlights fall on the front face of the items rather than the back panel, which is why our slimline depths matter: shallower cabinets keep the collection inside the lit zone.
