We look after a small
"We look after a small museum and were donated a beautiful cut glass model of a schooner from the Premier of Nova Scotia, the cabinet was selected for size and also illumination. It is perfect."
Jewellers show a ring on black velvet for a reason, and the WDTS300B works the same way. Its black frame and dark interior soak up stray light and colour, so when the LED comes on, all the attention falls on the item and nothing else in the case competes for it. A watch, an award or a single premium product looks noticeably richer and more expensive against black than it ever would on a pale, distracting background. The light is wireless, so there are no cables trailing out to spoil the effect, and toughened safety glass keeps a clear, sharp view from every side. A lockable door holds the piece safely while it stays on full show, and the whole cabinet hangs on the wall to keep counters and floors clear. It arrives pre-built, ready simply to fix up and fill. Best suited to jewellers, boutiques and bars where a single item needs to look its most tempting while staying safely locked away.
| Jewellers and Luxury Retail | A ring, a watch or a fine piece looks richest against black, where the lit item is all the eye sees. Locked behind toughened glass and hung on the wall, a high-value product is shown at its most tempting without giving up an inch of precious counter space. |
| Boutiques and Concept Stores | A single hero product or a limited edition earns a dramatic, lit case that lifts it above the rail. The black frame suits a styled, design-led interior and turns one item into a talking point rather than just more stock on a shelf. |
| Bars, Restaurants and Hotels | A rare spirit, a signature bottle or an award sits behind glass in a moody, low-lit room where a black cabinet blends into the decor and the LED does all the talking. The lock keeps a prized bottle safe on a public floor, and the case wipes clean between services. |
| Galleries and Museums | A small artefact or an art piece reads clearly in a lit black case that holds the room's focus on the object, not the frame. Hanging it on the wall keeps a narrow gallery or a corridor open, where a freestanding case would get in visitors' way. |
| Awards and Trophy Displays | Cups, medals and honours look their best lit against black rather than lost on an open shelf. A locked case in a clubhouse or reception keeps them safe, and the dark frame gives even a modest trophy a sense of occasion. |
| Home Collectors | Watches, models, coins or figures gain a premium, gallery-style case that makes a prized piece the feature of a room. Hung in a hallway or a study, the black cabinet flatters a collection and keeps it dust-free and locked. |
The same mini cabinet comes in a lighter silver finish for pale, modern interiors. To display more at once, the black WDTS1000CBK is a larger glass cabinet with six spotlights.

The Displaysense WDTS300B is a mini black wall-mounted aluminium display cabinet with a wireless LED light. It measures 455mm high x 300mm wide x 260mm deep and weighs 6.7kg. The frame is powder-coated black aluminium with toughened safety glass, and the front door locks and comes with two keys. The battery-powered LED light runs with no wiring, is fixed in position inside the case and has an accessible battery compartment. The cabinet arrives pre-built and fully assembled, and standard wall fixings are included, though the fixings should suit the wall type. It is for indoor, dry use only. The dark frame and interior throw attention onto the lit item, so it suits jewellers, boutiques and luxury retail, bars and restaurants, galleries and museums, and home collections. Also available as the mini silver WDTS300S and, for a larger display, the black WDTS1000CBK with six spotlights. Displaysense, UK display product specialists since 1978. Free UK mainland delivery.
Black works in a display for the same reason a jeweller reaches for a velvet pad. A dark frame and a dark interior give the eye nothing to catch on, so once the LED is lit, everything falls on the item and the case itself seems to disappear. Against that background a watch, a bottle or an award looks deeper in colour and more valuable than it would on a pale shelf. It is a simple trick of contrast, and it is why so much luxury retail is built around dark cabinets and pools of light.
Getting that effect depends on the light, and here it is a wireless LED. Because it runs on a battery instead of the mains, no cable trails out to spoil the clean black lines and no socket is needed behind the cabinet, so it can hang wherever the display looks best. The light is set in position inside the case to fall on the item rather than glare at the viewer. When the battery eventually fades, a compartment that opens by hand keeps changing it a quick job with no tools.
Practical worries usually put people off a case like this, and this one heads them off. It turns up pre-built and fully assembled, so there is no flat-pack evening and no bag of screws, just fix it up and fill it. Standard wall fixings come in the box, though the ones you use should match the wall behind, whether that is solid masonry or a stud partition. Hung on the wall rather than stood on a surface, it keeps a counter or a floor clear and lifts the display to eye level in a small space.
Showing a piece off and keeping it safe are handled together. Toughened safety glass wraps the display on show, far stronger than plain glass and made to break into blunt pieces rather than shards if it is ever struck. The door itself locks, with two keys supplied, so a valuable or delicate item stays fully protected from handling while remaining in full view. One thing to keep in mind is that the cabinet is for dry indoor rooms only, since damp and humidity would harm the frame, the glass seals and the LED over time.

Full specifications for the WDTS300B, a mini black wall-mounted aluminium display cabinet with a wireless LED light. It is a pre-built, lockable, glazed cabinet for dry indoor use, made to show a small item off against a dark background where space is limited.
| Specification | Detail | What This Means for You |
|---|---|---|
| Finish | Powder-coated black aluminium | A slim, matt black frame that puts all the focus on the lit item, with the colour baked on so it keeps its deep, even tone for years without scuffing shiny or fading. |
| Cabinet Size | 455mm (H) x 300mm (W) x 260mm (D) | Small enough to hold one or two pieces without dominating a wall, and sized for a spot where counters and floor are already full and every inch counts. |
| Weight | 6.7kg | Sturdy yet easy enough for one person to hold up and hang on their own, provided the wall and the fixings suit the surface behind it. |
| Glass | Toughened safety glass | A sharp, clear view from every side, much stronger than plain glass and breaking into blunt pieces rather than sharp shards if it is ever struck. |
| Lighting | Wireless battery-powered LED | Lights the piece with no cable on show and no socket needed nearby, so the dark case can hang anywhere in a room that the display looks best. |
| Light Position | Fixed inside the case | The LED is set for an even wash of light right across the item and does not move around, so the display looks right from the start without any adjusting or setup. |
| Battery Access | Easy-access compartment | You get to the battery and change it by hand in moments, so the light is easily kept going without tools, spare parts or any callout. |
| Door | Lockable, supplied with two keys | Holds a valuable or delicate item safe from handling and knocks while it stays on full show, with a spare key included for shared access. |
| Assembly | Pre-built, fully assembled | It lands ready-made, so there is nothing to construct at all and the case goes up and gets filled on the same day it arrives. |
| Mounting | Wall-mounted, fixings included | Standard wall fixings are supplied for most walls, keeping counters and floor clear. Swap in fixings that suit solid masonry or a stud partition as needed. |
| Use | Dry indoor use only | Kept to dry indoor rooms only, which protects the aluminium frame, the glass seals and the LED components from damp and humidity. |
| Also Available In | Silver (WDTS300S); larger black (WDTS1000CBK) | The same mini cabinet in a lighter silver, or a larger black glass cabinet with six spotlights for showing several pieces at once. |

Q: What is the best small black cabinet for displaying jewellery or a single premium item?
A: The best small black cabinet for displaying jewellery or a single premium item is the WDTS300B, a mini black aluminium cabinet with a wireless LED light. Its dark frame and interior throw the light onto the piece so it looks its richest, toughened safety glass keeps a clear view, and the door locks with two keys. It hangs on the wall to save space and arrives pre-built.
Q: Why does a black cabinet make items stand out?
A: A dark frame and interior give the eye nothing to wander to, so once the LED is on, the lit item becomes the whole picture. Against black, a watch, a bottle or a trophy looks deeper in colour and more valuable than it would on a pale shelf, which is the same reason luxury shops use dark cases and focused light.
Q: Does the cabinet need any assembly?
A: No. It comes pre-built and fully assembled, with the frame and glass already together, so there is no flat-pack to work through. You simply fix it to the wall with the supplied fixings, put the item inside and it is ready to show straight away, with no building involved.
Q: How is the wireless LED light powered?
A: The light runs on a battery rather than the mains, so there is no wire trailing from the case and no socket needed behind it. That keeps the clean black lines uninterrupted and lets you hang the cabinet wherever the display works best in a room, rather than only where there happens to be a power point.
Q: Can the LED light be moved inside the cabinet?
A: No. The LED is fixed in position inside the case, set to cast an even light on the item rather than glare towards the viewer. Because it does not move, the display looks right with no adjusting on your part, and there is nothing at all to knock out of position during everyday use.
Q: How do I change the battery?
A: Behind an easy-access panel sits the battery, which lifts out and swaps by hand with no tools at all. As soon as the light looks dimmer, a fresh battery restores full brightness and the piece is lit again.
Q: Are keys supplied with the lock?
A: Yes. The lockable door comes with two keys, so a valuable or fragile item is kept safe from stray hands while staying fully on view behind the glass. A second key supplied from the outset is handy wherever different members of staff might need to open the case, such as a shop, a bar or a gallery.
Q: What wall fixings come with it?
A: Standard wall fixings are included in the box. They suit many walls, but the right fixing depends on the surface, so for a solid masonry wall or a timber-stud partition you should choose fixings to match and check the wall will take the weight before mounting.
Q: How does the black compare to the silver version?
A: The WDTS300S is the same mini cabinet in silver, matched on size, glass, lock and wireless LED. The black WDTS300B makes a lit item pop against a dark background and suits a moody or design-led setting, while the silver has a lighter, more neutral look for a pale, modern interior.
Q: What if I want to display more pieces at once?
A: For a larger display, the black WDTS1000CBK is a bigger wall-mounted glass cabinet with six spotlights, made to show several items together. The mini WDTS300B is the one to pick for a single hero piece or two where wall space is limited, and the call really rests on how many items you want lit at once.
Q: Can it go in a bathroom, kitchen or other damp area?
A: No. The cabinet is for dry indoor rooms only and is not suitable for damp or humid spaces. Moisture over time can harm the aluminium frame, the glass seals and the LED components, so a steamy kitchen or humid bathroom position is best avoided to keep it looking and working well.
Q: Why choose a wall-mounted cabinet rather than a freestanding one?
A: A wall-mounted case keeps counters and floor clear and raises a display to eye level, where people naturally look. In a small boutique, a bar or a home, that saves space a freestanding cabinet would take up and keeps a route through the room open while still giving the piece a prominent spot.
A black cabinet sets the stage, but what you show and how you arrange it decide the effect. Whether you are displaying a collection, a trophy or a premium retail piece, a little planning makes the light and the dark frame work harder. These guides from the Displaysense knowledge hub help you get there.

If you are torn between the black and the silver, or between this mini case and a larger lit cabinet, our team can walk you through how each one looks in a room and which suits the items you want to show.

"We look after a small museum and were donated a beautiful cut glass model of a schooner from the Premier of Nova Scotia, the cabinet was selected for size and also illumination. It is perfect."
"This is good product with a great appearance after construction. The doors are fiddly to put on, but neat once done with a sturdy attachment to the wall. It will stand away from wall at top, but touch at bottom so may need a stopper or buffer at bottom to make it level. However we have put the flex that goes up to the usb attachment to the lights here and it levels it up."
"Instructions a little hard to follow, got there in the end, it is a lovely unit"
"Looks awesome, well buily, easy to install"
"Now that the cabinet is on the wall it looks great but there are issues in assembling this. The main one is that the latch/lock does not line up with the channel that the glass doors are on. The result is that, for it to lock the glass doors are angled backwards instead of being parallel with the edge of the cabinet. We made a magnetic latch instead but this is not something that everyone can do. The original cabinet was damaged and the part was replaced remarkably quickly by Displaysense and were very supportive. The cabinet looks great on the wall so ended well,"
"Was surprised that the wood was so pale when it was supposed to be oak and looks much darker on the photo. Went together fairly easily had a small problem with the glass shelves but had a conversation with staff member who was excellent and sorted it out very quickly. Havnt put lights up as didn’t want any cables showing but looks fine without."
"The cabinet was very easy to assemble and it looks great."
"Arrived safely and quick."
"Excellent quality Appears to be very study and well made"
"It was harder to assemble than the instructions made out. But the finished item looks good."
