Felt Noticeboards:
Professional Pin Boards for Offices and Schools

A felt noticeboard is a woven fabric pinboard surface framed in anodised aluminium or wood, accepting standard push pins and Velcro hook dots for poster and notice display. Fire-rated versions are tested to BS EN 13501-1 Class B or Class 0 and are required for school corridors, hospital escape routes, and public building primary circulation areas. Available in sizes from 900x600mm to 2400x1200mm in blue, grey, red, green, and burgundy.

Displaysense supplies the UK's leading range of felt noticeboards and fabric pinboards — essential for schools, universities, NHS corridors, and corporate offices. Our fire-rated boards meet BS EN 13501-1 Class B and Class 0 requirements for primary escape routes, while our standard boards suit classrooms, offices, and breakrooms where fire-rated certification is not mandatory.

Our most popular boards include the fire-resistant blue aluminium-framed noticeboard 1200x900mm for corridor compliance, the grey felt noticeboard 1800x1200mm for large staff room and lecture hall installations, and the tamperproof dark blue felt noticeboard for HR and safeguarding notices requiring a lockable frame.

Class 0 and B

Fire Rated Class 0 and Class B

Our fire-resistant aluminium-framed noticeboards are tested to BS EN 13501-1 Class B and Class 0 — the ratings legally required for corridors, stairwells, and primary escape routes in schools, hospitals, and public buildings. Clearly certified for compliance.

Anodised Aluminium Frame

Anodised aluminium edging protects the fabric surface from fraying and provides structural rigidity — making our boards suitable for high-traffic environments including school hallways, hospital corridors, and factory staff rooms where boards are handled frequently.

Concealed Corner Fixing

Boards fix to the wall through corner mounting points covered by plastic caps — concealing the screws for a professional finish and preventing casual tampering or removal. Plugs and screws are supplied. All boards can be mounted in landscape or portrait orientation.

Colour-Coded by Department

Available in blue, grey, red, green, and burgundy. Many facilities colour-code by area — red for fire safety, blue for general notices, grey for corporate environments. Blue and grey are the most popular choices for educational and NHS settings.

Pins and Velcro Compatible

The woven felt surface accepts standard push pins securely. Most boards also work with Velcro hook dots — allowing laminated posters to be displayed without pin holes, and making the surface last longer in high-rotation environments like school classrooms.

900mm to 2400mm Size Range

From compact 1200x900mm boards for individual offices to large 1800x1200mm and 2400x1200mm panels for staff rooms and lecture halls — stocked in standard sizes for immediate dispatch, with custom dimensions available on request.

Corridor, Classroom or Office?

For corridors and primary escape routes in schools, hospitals, and public buildings, choose fire-rated Class 0 or Class B felt noticeboards — these are a legal requirement. For classrooms, offices, and breakrooms not on escape routes, standard aluminium-framed felt boards are appropriate. For HR, safeguarding, and sensitive staff communications, choose tamperproof lockable boards.

For Corridors and Escape Routes

Our fire-resistant blue aluminium-framed noticeboard 1200x900mm is certified to Class B and Class 0 — the legally required fire rating for noticeboards on primary escape routes. Available in blue and other colours. Always confirm the specific Class requirement with your fire safety officer before ordering.

For Classrooms and Staff Rooms

Our grey felt noticeboard 1800x1200mm is the most popular choice for large staff rooms and lecture halls. For classrooms, our standard aluminium-framed boards in blue and grey provide a professional long-lasting surface without requiring fire-rated certification.

For HR and Secure Communications

Our tamperproof dark blue felt noticeboard features a locking frame that prevents unauthorised removal or amendment of notices — essential for HR communications, safeguarding information, and mandatory employer notices in staff areas.

Which noticeboards are legally required for school and hospital corridors?
Corridors, stairwells, and primary fire escape routes in schools and public buildings legally require fire-resistant noticeboards rated to Class 0 or Class B under BS EN 13501-1. Standard felt boards are not compliant for these locations. Our fire-resistant aluminium-framed noticeboards are clearly labelled with their fire rating. Consult your fire safety officer to confirm which Class is required for your specific building before ordering.
What is the difference between felt and loop nylon noticeboard surfaces?
Felt is a softer woven wool-like fabric that accepts standard push pins securely and works with Velcro hook dots. It is the most common surface for schools, offices, and NHS facilities. Loop nylon is a tougher synthetic fabric specifically engineered to be Velcro-friendly — it holds hook fasteners more firmly, resists wear from frequent reuse better, and is the preferred surface for high-rotation exhibition display boards and professional presentation environments where pins are not used at all.
Can I use Velcro instead of pins on felt noticeboards?
Yes. Most of our felt noticeboards are compatible with Velcro hook dots, allowing laminated posters and notices to be displayed without pin holes. This is particularly popular in schools where avoiding sharp pins near children is a priority, and in high-rotation environments where the board surface needs to last longer before replacement.
Are felt noticeboards effective for acoustic dampening?
Yes. Woven felt fabric naturally absorbs sound waves, reducing echo and reverberation. Installing large felt noticeboards in noisy classrooms, open-plan offices, or meeting rooms provides a measurable improvement in acoustic comfort — a useful dual function alongside their primary notice display purpose. For dedicated acoustic performance, see our full range of acoustic room dividers and panels.
How do I install a felt noticeboard?
Our aluminium-framed boards come with a corner fixing kit including wall plugs and screws. Fix through the plastic corner brackets into the wall, then press the cover caps over the screw heads for a clean finish. All boards can be mounted in landscape or portrait orientation. Two people are recommended for large boards above 1800mm wide to ensure level positioning.
Do you accept school and NHS Purchase Orders?
Yes. We accept official Purchase Orders from schools, colleges, universities, NHS Trusts, and local authorities — with 30-day credit terms available. Contact our sales team to set up an account. For bulk orders of fire-rated boards for new-build schools or hospital refurbishments, we can provide consolidated quotes across all required sizes and colours.
Are custom sizes available for large installations?
We stock a comprehensive range of standard sizes from 900x600mm up to 2400x1200mm for immediate dispatch. For large projects or bespoke dimensions outside our standard range, contact our sales team for a custom quote — particularly relevant for new-build school installations where wall dimensions may not match standard board sizes.
