Industrial Style Clothes Rack on Wheels: 90kg Capacity, 5 Tiers, Iron Pipe Frame, Engineered Wood Shelves
A standard clothes rail gives you a bar and two uprights. This gives you a garment station. The RA1030V combines an industrial iron frame with warm brown engineered wood shelves to create a mobile wardrobe unit that hangs garments, stores accessories, holds shoes and displays folded items across five tiers in a single 1035mm-wide footprint. The top shelf holds hats, boxes and folded knitwear. The hanging bar carries coats, jackets and dresses at full length. Two 300 x 300mm side shelves hold accessories, bags and smaller items at arm's reach. The bottom platform stores shoes, boots and storage baskets. The aesthetic is deliberate: black metal and rustic wood produce the kind of industrial-meets-warm interior look that dominates boutique retail, loft apartments, creative studios and open-plan living spaces. Selected by Displaysense for its combination of practical storage density and design quality. 90kg load capacity. Four castor wheels, two lockable. Assembly required, fittings included.
Why Five Tiers in One Unit Changes What a Clothes Rail Can Do
- Garment station, not just a rail: Five storage tiers in a single unit. Hang garments on the bar, fold knitwear on the top shelf, store shoes on the bottom platform, keep accessories on the side shelves. One piece of furniture replaces a rail, a shoe rack and a shelf unit. In small spaces where every item needs a home, the integrated design eliminates the clutter of separate pieces that do not coordinate visually.
- Industrial pipe and warm wood aesthetic: The black iron frame combined with warm brown engineered wood shelves produces a look that works in two directions simultaneously: urban and warm. In a loft, a studio, a boutique, a dressing room or an open-plan bedroom, the rack functions as a design feature rather than a storage solution that needs hiding. The materials age well and the style does not date.
- 90kg capacity across the structure: The frame supports 90kg of evenly distributed weight across the hanging bar, shelves and platform. Coats, jackets, jeans on hangers, boots on the platform and folded items on the shelves, all within the rated capacity. The frame handles the combined weight of a working wardrobe or a curated retail display.
- Lockable castors for mobile storage: Two of the four castors lock to hold the rack in position. Unlock to roll between rooms, from storage to shop floor, from the bedroom to the hallway, from backstage to front-of-house. The wheels handle the weight of a fully loaded rack on hard floors, tiles and short carpet.
- 1035mm width for real rooms: Wide enough for a substantial garment run. Compact enough for a bedroom wall, a boutique floor position or a studio corner without dominating the available space. The 400mm depth keeps the unit close to the wall when positioned against one.
- Assembly with included fittings: Ships flat-packed with all fixings and instructions. The joints bolt together securely. The shelves slot onto the frame. Assembly is straightforward and produces a rigid, stable unit once complete.
Where Industrial Storage Becomes Part of the Interior Design
| Boutique Retail, Pop-Ups | Garment display with integrated accessory staging. Hang the collection on the bar, fold accent pieces on the top shelf, arrange shoes below and accessories on the side shelves. The industrial aesthetic suits independent fashion retail, vintage shops and pop-up markets where the fixtures are part of the brand identity. |
| Lofts, Open-Plan Living | Open wardrobe storage in converted lofts, industrial apartments and open-plan bedrooms where a traditional wardrobe would look out of place. The iron-and-wood aesthetic suits exposed brick, concrete floors and industrial interior schemes. |
| Dressing Rooms, Walk-In Wardrobes | A mobile wardrobe station for dressing rooms, spare bedrooms and walk-in spaces. Garments, shoes and accessories organised across five tiers in a single unit. Roll to the bedroom door when selecting outfits, back to the wall when not in use. |
| Fashion Styling, Photography | Wardrobe prep and outfit staging for fashion shoots, editorial styling and content creation. The rack looks professional in frame and behind the camera. The castors reposition between setups. The shelves hold accessories within arm's reach during the shoot. |
| Creative Studios, Coworking | Coat and bag storage in creative studios, shared workspaces and agency offices where a utilitarian coat hook would clash with the interior aesthetic. The industrial design coordinates with the exposed-services, reclaimed-materials look that creative workplaces cultivate. |
| Student, Rental, Temporary | Portable wardrobe storage for student accommodation, rental properties and temporary living. The castors make it moveable. The five tiers replace a wardrobe in rooms that do not have one. The unit disassembles for transport between properties. |

RA1030V is a Displaysense Industrial Style Clothes Rack on Wheels with 5 storage tiers. Black iron pipe frame with rustic brown engineered wood shelves. 1745mm H x 1035mm W x 400mm D, 19.6kg, 90kg capacity. Includes top shelf, hanging bar, two 300x300mm side shelves, bottom platform. Four castor wheels (two lockable). Assembly required. Designed for boutique retail, loft apartments, dressing rooms, styling studios and open-plan living where the industrial aesthetic is part of the interior design. Selected by Displaysense, UK display specialist since 1978.
The industrial aesthetic started in New York lofts and Brooklyn boutiques and crossed the Atlantic into UK interior design in the early 2010s. It stuck because the combination of raw metal and warm natural wood produces a look that is simultaneously functional and decorative. A rack in this style does not need hiding in a cupboard or behind a curtain. It sits in the room as a visible piece of furniture that contributes to the interior. The RA1030V takes that aesthetic and adds practical storage density: five tiers of organised space across a single 1035mm-wide footprint.
The top shelf sits above the hanging bar, creating a display and storage surface for hats, boxes, folded knitwear, bags and decorative items. The bottom platform sits at floor level, providing a stable base for shoes, boots, storage baskets and heavier items that benefit from being stored low. Two 300 x 300mm side shelves, one on each upright, hold accessories, scarves, small bags, jewellery trays and the smaller items that would otherwise end up in a drawer or pile on a chair. The hanging bar between the uprights carries garments at full length. Together, the five tiers organise an entire wardrobe or a curated retail display in a single unit rather than spreading across separate pieces of furniture that occupy more combined floor space and do not coordinate visually.
The practical difference between this and a standard rail is what happens to the shoes, bags, scarves and folded items. On a standard rail, they end up on the floor or on a separate shelf that does not match. On this unit, they have designated positions. Shoes on the bottom platform. Hats on the top shelf. Accessories on the side shelves. Garments hanging between. Everything organised and coordinated in a single piece that takes up less floor space than the separate items it replaces.
The iron frame and brown engineered wood shelves are the material combination that defines the look. The pipes are finished in matte black. The engineered wood has a warm, rustic brown tone that contrasts with the dark metal without competing with it. The combination works in exposed-brick lofts, in contemporary apartments with neutral walls, in boutique retail spaces with raw concrete floors, and in creative studios where the interior design is as curated as the work produced in them. The 90kg capacity across the structure handles the combined weight of a working wardrobe or a retail display without the frame flexing or the shelves sagging.
Four castor wheels provide mobility. Two lock to hold the rack in position; unlock to reposition between rooms, between shop floor and stockroom, or between setup positions during a photo shoot or event. At 19.6kg the rack is substantial enough to feel stable when loaded but not so heavy that one person cannot manoeuvre it through a doorway. The 1035mm width passes through standard UK doorways without tilting. Assembly uses the included fittings and instructions. The pipe joints bolt together. The shelves slot into position. Once assembled, the unit is rigid and stable.

Questions About This Industrial Clothes Rack on Wheels
Q: How much weight can this rack hold?
A: 90kg evenly distributed across the entire structure: the hanging bar, top shelf, side shelves and bottom platform combined. In practical terms, that covers a full wardrobe of coats, jackets, jeans, dresses, shoes and accessories, or a curated retail display with folded items and footwear alongside hanging garments. The iron frame distributes load through all four uprights, so weight on the shelves and weight on the bar are shared across the same structure rather than concentrated on a single point.
Q: What are the shelves made from?
A: Engineered wood with a rustic brown finish. The warm brown tone contrasts with the matte black iron pipe frame, producing the industrial-meets-warm aesthetic that defines this style. Engineered wood is more stable than solid timber in centrally heated interiors where humidity levels fluctuate seasonally.
Q: Do the castors lock?
A: Two of the four castors lock, holding the rack steady when positioned. Unlock to roll between rooms, from stockroom to shop floor, or from the wardrobe area to the bedroom door. The wheels handle hard floors, tiles and short carpet.
Q: Is this suitable for a boutique shop floor?
A: Yes. The iron-and-wood aesthetic suits independent fashion retail, vintage shops, concept stores and pop-up markets where the fixtures contribute to the brand identity rather than hiding behind it. Hang the collection on the bar, fold accent pieces on the top shelf, arrange shoes on the platform and stage accessories on the side shelves. The rack works as a complete merchandising unit that tells a visual story rather than just storing garments. The lockable wheels hold position during trading and release for overnight rearrangement or relocation between events.
Q: Will it work in a home bedroom or loft?
A: Yes. Particularly in open-plan bedrooms, loft conversions, converted warehouses and rooms with an industrial or contemporary aesthetic. The rack replaces a wardrobe in rooms that do not have built-in storage, and the design quality means it looks intentional rather than temporary. The five tiers organise garments, shoes and accessories in a way that a simple rail cannot. The warm wood shelves against the dark iron frame produce a look that works with exposed brick, neutral walls, concrete floors and modern minimalist interiors.
Q: What do the side shelves hold?
A: Each side shelf is 300 x 300mm. They suit accessories, scarves, small bags, jewellery trays, perfume, folded t-shirts, hats and the smaller items that otherwise end up in drawers or on chairs. The shelves sit at arm's reach beside the hanging garments.
Q: Does it fit through a standard doorway?
A: Yes. At 1035mm wide and 400mm deep, the assembled rack passes through standard UK doorways. The castors make it easy to roll between rooms without lifting.
Q: Is assembly difficult?
A: Assembly is straightforward. All fittings and instructions are included. The iron frame joints bolt together and the engineered wood shelves slot into position on the frame. Once assembled, the unit is rigid and stable.
Q: Is this suitable for fashion styling or photography?
A: Yes. Stylists and photographers use it for wardrobe prep, outfit staging and content creation. The rack looks professional both in frame and behind the camera. The shelves hold accessories within arm's reach during the shoot. The castors reposition between setups.
Q: Can students use this as a portable wardrobe?
A: Yes. It replaces a wardrobe in student accommodation and rental properties where built-in storage is limited or absent. The five tiers organise clothes, shoes and accessories in one unit. The rack disassembles for transport between properties at the end of each year.
Q: How does this compare to a plain industrial pipe rail?
A: A plain pipe rail gives you a hanging bar and nothing else. This rack adds a top shelf, a bottom platform and two side shelves, creating five tiers of storage in the same footprint. It replaces a rail, a shoe rack and a shelf unit in a single coordinated piece.
Q: How is it delivered?
A: Free UK mainland delivery. Flat-packed with all fittings and instructions included. Assembles on site.

Overview
