"Dont use outside! Within a week the inside of the sign has gone rusty from water gathering inside from the slightest bit of rain. We now have to have a permanent cloth inside thay we change throughout the day to soak up water. We’ve had to replace our laminated menus regularly from water damage. The inside fogs up from the water so customers cannot read them. I have contacted the company twice for help with this and both times I’ve been told to keep doing what we are already doing. Seriously high maintenance for a menu sign. Created on-going jobs and costs. Would not recommend. I wish I could put pictures up of the damage and water build up."

Black 3 x A4 Floor Standing Menu Board: Hammered Effect Aluminium, Angled Display, Weighted Steel Base, Weather Resistant
Three messages. One stand. Zero clutter. The MBA4X3 is a floor standing display board that holds three A4 posters side by side in a single angled panel at standing-height reading position. A menu outside a restaurant. Safety notices in an NHS waiting room. Visitor guidance in a school reception. The 3 x A4 format presents grouped information as a structured sequence rather than three separate signs. Black hammered effect aluminium on a 21kg weighted steel base. Weather-resistant for entrances and covered outdoor seating. Magnetic poster sleeves with anti-glare protection. Freestanding. Selected by Displaysense.
1120mm H x 780mm W x 404mm D. Panel height from floor: 910mm. Weight 21kg. 3 x A4 display area (210mm x 630mm). Black hammered effect aluminium frame. Weighted steel base. Weather-resistant. Magnetic poster sleeves with anti-glare covers. Freestanding. Free UK mainland delivery.
Why Three A4 Panels on One Stand Changes How People Read Your Message
- 3 x A4 format for grouped, structured messaging: Three A4 posters displayed side by side in a single panel create a visual sequence that visitors read as connected information rather than three separate signs. A restaurant displays starter, main and dessert menus across the three panels. An NHS clinic displays a health campaign, appointment guidance and contact details. A school reception shows safeguarding policy, visitor procedure and term dates. The format imposes structure on information that would otherwise be scattered.
- Ergonomic angled face at 910mm standing height: The panel tilts at an angle calibrated for standing-height legibility. Visitors read the content at a comfortable neck angle without bending or stooping. At 910mm from the floor to the lower panel edge, the reading position works for adults approaching from a standing position in a queue, a corridor, a doorway or a reception area.
- 21kg weighted steel base for heavyweight stability: The base provides rock-solid stability in high-footfall public areas without floor-fixing. NHS waiting rooms, school corridors, hotel foyers and restaurant entrances where people brush past, children run and trolleys roll. The 21kg mass keeps the stand planted where it is positioned.
- Weather-resistant aluminium and steel construction: The black hammered effect aluminium frame and steel base are built for entrances, covered outdoor seating areas and semi-exposed positions where the stand encounters rain splash, humidity and temperature changes. The anti-glare poster covers protect content from moisture and dirt.
- Magnetic poster sleeves with anti-glare protection: Lift the magnetic cover, slide the poster in, close. No tools, no clips, no screws. The anti-glare surface maintains readability in direct sunlight and under artificial lighting. Change all three posters in under a minute. Laminated posters fit well and are recommended for long-term or frequently touched displays.
- Freestanding, portable, no installation: Position at the entrance, in the foyer, beside the counter or at the start of a queue. Move when the layout changes. No wall-fixing, no floor-mounting. At 21kg two people reposition it comfortably. The hammered black finish suits hospitality, healthcare, education and corporate environments equally.
Where Three A4 Messages Earn Their Stand
| Restaurants, Cafes, Hospitality | Menus, daily specials, allergen charts and pricing displayed at the entrance or beside the host stand. The 3 x A4 format presents a complete menu overview in one glance. The weather-resistant build suits doorway positions and covered outdoor seating areas where guests choose before entering. |
| NHS, Healthcare, Clinics | Health campaigns, appointment guidance, safety notices and patient information grouped in a single stand in waiting rooms, corridors and reception areas. The 21kg base provides stability in high-footfall clinical environments. The magnetic covers allow rapid poster changes when campaigns update. |
| Schools, Universities, Education | Safeguarding policies, visitor procedures and term information displayed at the main reception. Open day wayfinding across three panels guiding visitors to different departments. The freestanding format repositions between events and stores between terms. |
| Hotels, Conference Centres | Event schedules, welcome messages and directional information in hotel lobbies, conference foyers and function room entrances. The black hammered finish suits premium hospitality interiors. Trusted by major hotel chains for guest-facing communication. |
| Museums, Galleries, Heritage | Exhibition information, visitor guidance and programme details at museum entrances and gallery foyers. Three A4 panels present exhibition highlights, opening hours and ticketing information as a cohesive welcome rather than scattered signs. |
| Councils, Government, Public Sector | Service information, consultation notices and public guidance in council reception areas, civic centres and government building foyers. The weighted base suits shared public spaces where the stand must remain stable without supervision. |
Need a Fourth Panel or Posters to Fill It?
For a wider 4 x A4 display, the 4 x A4 black menu board MB1205MT provides an extra panel in the same hammered black finish. Ideal for cafés, restaurants and hospitality venues, it offers additional space for menus, promotions and daily specials in busy customer-facing environments.

Displaysense MBA4X3 Black 3 x A4 Floor Standing Menu Board. 1120mm H x 780mm W x 404mm D. 21kg. 3 x A4 display (210 x 630mm). Black hammered effect aluminium. Weighted steel base. Weather-resistant. Magnetic sleeves with anti-glare. Angled face at 910mm. Freestanding. Restaurants, NHS, schools, hotels, museums, councils. Also available as 4 x A4. Displaysense since 1978.
Three separate signs in an entrance rarely get read as one thing. People find one, skim it, and walk past the other two without connecting them. This board runs three A4 sheets side by side in portrait across a single face, so a menu reads as one offering, a health campaign runs left to right in order, and a set of visitor notices is taken in at a single stop. You are still printing three sheets of A4, which any office printer or trade printer handles, but a reader sees one message rather than three competing ones. That matters most at a door, where somebody decides in a second or two whether to come in or keep walking.
Anything at waist height gets read badly, because people either stoop or give up. The face on this board is angled back towards the reader and the lowest sheet sits well up off the floor, so a standing adult takes in all three panels without bending or craning. That angle does something else as well. It carries at a distance, so somebody queueing a few paces back can read the top sheet while they wait rather than having to walk up to it and hold everybody else up. In a corridor or a reception the same thing applies, since people read on the move and rarely stop unless something makes them.
Changing a menu should not be a job. Lift the magnetic cover on a sleeve, slide the old sheet out, slide the new one in and press the cover back down. All three panels are done inside a minute, with no tools, no clips and nothing to unscrew. The covers are anti-glare, which matters more than it sounds in a doorway, because low sun and an overhead light will both bounce off a bare sheet and leave a reader squinting at a white band. Laminating the print is worth doing where a menu stays up for a season, or where the board sits somewhere people reach out and touch it while they read.
Entrances are draughty and busy. Doors open and close, trolleys and luggage come through, and children run. The weight in this board sits down in a steel base, which keeps it standing without anything bolted to the floor, and the frame is built to take a doorway or a covered terrace where rain splash and damp get at it. The hammered finish helps here too, because a textured surface hides the everyday scuffs that show up plainly on a smooth black coat. A board at an entrance takes contact all day long, and a finish that does not show every mark of it stays looking presentable for a good deal longer.

Full specification for the MBA4X3, a black hammered effect 3 x A4 floor standing menu board. The table opens on poster capacity and orientation, works through changing and protecting the sheets, then closes on sizes, weight, frame and base. Every line explains what that detail means for a board standing in a doorway.
| Specification | Detail | What This Means for You |
|---|---|---|
| Poster capacity | 3 x A4, side by side | Three sheets read as one message rather than three separate signs, so a menu, a price list or a set of notices holds together in a single glance. |
| Poster orientation | Portrait, 210mm wide by 297mm high each | Artwork goes to print in portrait, three sheets making a run of 630mm across the face of the board. Worth settling before any print order is placed. |
| Changing posters | Magnetic covers, tool-free | Peel a cover back, swap the sheet underneath and settle the cover down again. The full set of three is done in well under a minute, without a tool in sight. |
| Poster protection | Anti-glare magnetic covers | Cuts the reflection that washes out a menu under a doorway light or low sun, and keeps handling marks off a sheet in a position people reach for. |
| Face angle | Angled for standing readers | Sets the sheets at the angle somebody on their feet naturally reads at, so nobody has to stoop or crane their neck to take in the bottom panel. |
| Lower panel height | 910mm from the floor | Puts the first sheet at comfortable reading height for a standing adult, and keeps the bottom of the display well clear of the floor and any splash off it. |
| Overall size | 1120mm high x 780mm wide | Stands about chest height on most adults and takes roughly the floor of a bar stool, which suits a doorway or the end of a counter. |
| Weight | 21kg | Heavy enough to stay put in a draughty entrance or a corridor where trolleys and luggage pass, with no floor fixing needed at all. |
| Frame | Hammered effect aluminium | A textured finish hides the scuffs and contact marks a smooth coat would show, which counts on a board standing where people brush past. |
| Base | Weighted steel with twin uprights | Two posts carry the panel rather than a single pole, so the face holds square instead of twisting under a knock. Assembly fixings are supplied in the box. |
| Environment | Weather resistant | Handles a doorway, a covered terrace or a sheltered forecourt, where rain splash, humidity and temperature swings all come into play. |
| Installation | Freestanding, no fixings | Nothing bolts to a floor or a wall, so the board shifts between the entrance, the counter and the waiting area as the day demands. |

Questions About This 3 x A4 Black Menu Board
Q: Is this suitable for restaurant and cafe menu display?
A: Yes. The 3 x A4 format presents a complete menu overview across three panels at the entrance, beside the host stand or in a covered outdoor seating area. Starters, mains and desserts across three A4 sheets. Or a food menu, drinks menu and daily specials. The angled panel is positioned for standing-height legibility so guests read before entering or while waiting to be seated.
Q: Is this suitable for NHS waiting rooms and healthcare settings?
A: Yes. Widely used by NHS trusts and healthcare providers to display health campaigns, appointment guidance, safety notices and patient information in a single structured stand. The 21kg weighted base provides stability in high-footfall clinical environments. The magnetic covers allow rapid poster changes when campaigns update.
Q: Can this be used outdoors?
A: The stand is weather-resistant and suitable for entrance positions and covered outdoor seating areas where it encounters rain splash, humidity and temperature changes. The aluminium frame and steel base resist corrosion. The anti-glare poster covers protect content from moisture and dirt. For fully exposed outdoor positions without any overhead cover, the stand should be brought inside during heavy rain or severe weather to maximise the lifespan of both the stand and the poster content.
Q: How do I change the posters?
A: Lift the magnetic cover on each A4 sleeve, slide the old poster out, slide the new one in, close the magnetic cover. No tools, no clips, no screws. All three posters change in under a minute. The magnetic sleeves hold content firmly with no loose components. Laminated posters fit well and are recommended for long-term or frequently touched displays.
Q: Is it stable in busy public areas?
A: Yes. The 21kg weighted steel base provides rock-solid stability without floor-fixing. NHS waiting rooms, school corridors during class changeover, hotel foyers with luggage trolleys and restaurant entrances with opening doors and drafts. The oval base design minimises trip risk while maximising stability.
Q: What is the hammered effect finish?
A: The black hammered effect aluminium creates a textured surface with a subtle pattern that hides minor scratches, scuffs and contact marks significantly better than a smooth powder coat finish would. In high-traffic positions where the stand is regularly brushed by bags, trolleys, pushchairs and passing visitors, the textured finish maintains its premium appearance for longer without showing the daily wear that a smooth surface reveals.
Q: Can I use laminated posters?
A: Yes. Laminated A4 posters fit under the magnetic covers and are recommended for long-term displays, menus that are frequently updated and any content in positions where the posters may be touched by visitors or exposed to moisture at entrance positions.
Q: Is this suitable for school receptions?
A: Yes. Display safeguarding policies, visitor procedures and term information across three A4 panels at the main reception. Open day wayfinding guiding visitors to different departments. The freestanding format repositions between events and stores between terms. The weighted base provides stability in busy school corridors.
Q: What is the reading height?
A: The lower edge of the display panel sits at 910mm from the floor. The angled face positions content at an ergonomic reading angle for adults at standing height. Visitors read without bending or stooping. The content is legible from several paces away as well as directly in front.
Q: Does this require tools or wall mounting?
A: No. It is a fully freestanding unit. The base assembles onto the twin uprights with the included fixings. No wall-mounting, no floor-fixing. Position at the entrance, in the foyer, beside the counter or at the start of a queue. Move when the requirement changes.
Q: Is there a larger version with more A4 panels?
A: Yes. The 4 x A4 black menu board (MB1205MT) provides a fourth A4 panel in the same hammered black finish with the same weighted base and magnetic poster system. Choose the 3 x A4 when three messages are sufficient or the space is narrower.
Q: How is this delivered?
A: Free delivery to UK mainland addresses. The stand arrives with the display panel, weighted steel base, twin uprights and assembly fixings. Standard delivery.
