Show Your Whole Range in a Slim Silver Glass Display Cabinet

Where a display cabinet only needs to display, the Displaysense DTS401LED hands the whole column over to it. Four adjustable glass shelves run the full internal height beneath nine daylight LED spotlights, so every piece from the base to the top shelf sits in clear, even light behind toughened glass on all four sides. The silver anodised aluminium frame is deliberately understated, a slim upright that reads as part of a considered interior rather than a piece of shop fitting, which is why it settles so easily into salons, professional receptions and pale, minimalist retail. It closes on a key lock, stands on levelling feet and is independently fire rated for public use. It is a Displaysense design, exclusive to Displaysense and designed in-house. Best suited to professional retail, reception and gallery spaces where a clean, all-display showcase matters more than built-in storage.

Why an All-Display Column Suits a Considered Interior

  • Four adjustable shelves, no storage compromise: With no base cupboard taking up the lower section, this cabinet devotes its full height to display and carries a fourth shelf that the storage version cannot. That means more tiers of stock on view, and the freedom to space them evenly from the floor to the top of the column.
  • Glass on every face for an open sightline: The sides and the hinged door are all clear toughened glass, so a viewer takes in the display from the front and both flanks with nothing boxed in behind a solid panel. The enclosure keeps dust off the contents while leaving the pieces fully visible from across a room.
  • Shelves that reposition on a rod track: Each glass shelf rides a continuous internal track and moves to any height by hand, without preset holes or tools. Tall and short pieces share the same cabinet comfortably, and shelves come out altogether when a single uninterrupted showcase suits the display better.
  • Even daylight lighting, top to bottom: Nine integrated LEDs in a daylight tone light the cabinet from above and along both sides, so the lowest shelf is as clearly lit as the highest. Colours read true under the neutral light, which flatters jewellery, ceramics, retail stock and gallery pieces alike.
  • Locked and fire rated for public rooms: A key lock with a matched set of keys secures the contents, and the cabinet is independently tested to a recognised public-use fire standard, so it can be specified in retail, healthcare, education and civic buildings where an unrated cabinet is turned away.
  • A slim silver design that disappears into the room: Exclusive to Displaysense and designed in-house since 1978, the pale silver frame and narrow upright are made to recede rather than dominate. Levelling feet settle it on floors that are not quite true, so it stands clean and square in a finished space.

Where an All-Glass Silver Cabinet Belongs

Salons, Spas and Aesthetic Clinics Retail ranges of skincare, haircare and treatment products present at their best under even lighting, in a pale frame that suits the clean, light interiors these businesses build their brand around. The all-glass column keeps the focus on the products rather than the fixture.
Professional Reception and Offices Awards, branded pieces and curated displays hold a corporate entrance without the bulk of a storage cabinet. A slim silver upright sits neatly beside a reception desk and reads as considered furniture rather than shop equipment in a professional setting.
Galleries, Museums and Heritage Small artefacts and artworks show in a controlled, dust-free case with a fire rating and key lock that meet the standards these spaces expect. Toughened glass on every side gives visitors a full view while the pieces stay protected and secure.
Jewellers and Boutiques High-value and delicate items gain a locked, well-lit showcase where daylight LEDs render metals and stones accurately. The four-shelf column stages a full collection at eye level and above, drawing a customer in without a cluttered fixture competing for attention.
Minimalist and Concept Retail Pared-back interiors that treat each fixture as part of the design gain a cabinet chosen to blend in. The silver frame and clear glass carry a curated edit of stock without the visual weight a darker or bulkier unit would bring to the floor.
Hotels and Hospitality Lobby retail, brand pieces and guest-facing displays present in a finish that complements light stone, marble and contemporary hotel interiors. The narrow footprint tucks into a lobby or corridor recess and lifts the space rather than crowding it.

Need Hidden Storage as Well as Display?

If you need somewhere to keep spare stock and clutter out of sight, the storage version is the same silver cabinet with a separately lockable base compartment beneath the display. It trades one shelf for that concealed storage, so choose it when display and stock have to live in a single column.

Call us on 01279460460 or get in touch and we will point you to the cabinet that suits the room.

The Displaysense DTS401LED is a silver aluminium freestanding glass display cabinet, the display-only model in the range with no base storage, exclusive to Displaysense and designed in-house. Dimensions: 1800mm H x 400mm W x 400mm D. Silver anodised aluminium frame with 360-degree 4mm toughened glass sides and door. 4 tempered glass shelves, rod-track height adjustable, 12kg each. 9 daylight LED spotlights. Single hinged lockable door, 2 keys. Levelling feet. Fire rated to BS 5852:2006 Section 12 for public and commercial use. Flat-packed self-assembly. Suitable for salons, professional reception, galleries, museums, jewellers, boutiques, minimalist retail and hospitality. Also available as the DTK401 with hidden base storage, and in black and wider models across the range. Displaysense, UK display specialist since 1978. Free UK mainland delivery.

The DTS401LED is the pure-display model in the display cabinet range that Displaysense designs in-house, and its whole point is that nothing is given over to storage. Where the storage version of this cabinet trades its lower section for an enclosed cupboard, this one keeps the full internal height as open display and carries an extra shelf as a result. What a buyer gains is a taller, more flexible showcase, one that stages a complete collection or product range in a single glazed column rather than splitting the space between what is on show and what is put away.

The enclosure is glazed on all four upright faces, with clear toughened glass forming the sides and the hinged door. That full glazing is what gives the cabinet its open, gallery-style sightline, because a viewer reads the contents from the front and both sides without a solid panel breaking the line. The glass is toughened for strength and safety in a public room, and the door closes on a key lock, so the display stays sealed against dust and handling while remaining completely visible from the floor around it.

Inside, the shelves are carried on a continuous track rather than on fixed pegs or notches, which is what lets the display be arranged around the pieces instead of the other way round. A shelf lifts free and re-seats at any height by hand, so a run of small items and a single tall piece can share one cabinet, and removing shelves opens the column right up for a large object. Lighting is handled by daylight-toned LEDs set into the frame overhead and down the sides, throwing an even, colour-true wash that reaches the lowest shelf as fully as the top one.

The cabinet is put together for professional, public-facing rooms. A silver anodised aluminium frame carries the structure, light and rigid yet resistant to corrosion, and holds the pale, low-key finish the cabinet is chosen for. Independent fire testing to a recognised public-use standard clears it for rooms a non-rated case would be barred from. It travels flat and goes up on site, threading through normal doorways, and feet at the base screw down to sit it level on an imperfect floor.

Frequently Asked Questions About This Display Cabinet

Q: What is the best glass display cabinet for a salon or minimalist retail space?

A: The best glass display cabinet for a salon or minimalist retail space is the DTS401LED, a slim 400mm silver cabinet that gives its full height to display across four adjustable shelves under nine daylight LEDs. Toughened glass on every side keeps the view open while the pale silver frame recedes into a light, considered interior. It locks on a key and is fire rated for public use, so it suits customer-facing rooms where the fixture should complement the space rather than sit within it rather than dominate it.

Q: What is the difference between this and the DTK401 with storage?

A: This display-only cabinet keeps its whole internal height as open display and carries four adjustable shelves. The storage version trades its lower section for a separately lockable base compartment and so carries three shelves. Both share the same silver aluminium frame, toughened glass, rod-track shelves and nine LEDs. Choose this one for maximum display, and the storage version when you also need concealed stock space in the same column.

Q: How many shelves does it have, and can they be moved?

A: It has four tempered glass shelves, each rated to 12kg evenly distributed. Each shelf clips onto an internal track and repositions by hand to any height, with no screws, pegs or preset holes to work around. Take all four out and the column opens up for one tall, unbroken display.

Q: How is the cabinet lit?

A: Nine LED spotlights are integrated into the frame, set overhead and along the sides. Every LED gives off a neutral 6400K daylight glow, washing the cabinet from top to base so nothing on the lower shelves drops into shadow.

Q: Is the display secure and dust-free?

A: Yes. The hinged door closes on a key lock with two keys supplied, and the toughened glass fully encloses the contents on all sides. That keeps the display sealed against dust and casual handling while the pieces stay completely visible, which suits jewellers, galleries and any high-value retail or heritage setting.

Q: Is it fire rated for public sector or commercial use?

A: Yes. The cabinet holds independent certification to BS 5852:2006 Section 12, the fire benchmark UK commercial display cabinets are measured against. With that in place it can go into shops, clinics, schools and public buildings that turn away uncertified fixtures.

Q: Will the silver finish suit a light or minimalist interior?

A: That is what it is designed for. The silver anodised aluminium is a pale, neutral finish that recedes into salons, professional receptions and pale retail schemes rather than standing out. Paired with the all-glass body, the cabinet reads as part of a considered interior instead of shop equipment dropped into it.

Q: Does it need fixing to a wall?

A: No. The 400mm depth gives a stable freestanding footprint, so it stands on its own with no wall bracket needed. Screw-adjust feet at the base take up any dip in the floor, so the column stands square even in older rooms where the ground runs off-level.

Q: What can the shelves hold?

A: Each tempered glass shelf takes up to 12kg evenly distributed, which comfortably suits jewellery, glassware, ceramics, electronics, cosmetics and general retail stock. Loading weightier pieces low and towards the centre keeps the filled cabinet steady and secure.

Q: Does it require assembly?

A: Yes. It arrives flat-packed with all fixings and clear instructions. Since it goes together from separate panels on site, it fits through an ordinary doorway first, opening up rooms a factory-assembled case could never reach.

Q: Is this a Displaysense design?

A: Yes. This is a Displaysense own design sold through Displaysense alone and stocked nowhere else. The range has been developed in-house since 1978, and the same team supports it directly once it is with you.

Q: How is a cabinet this size delivered?

A: Being a large cabinet, it travels on a booked delivery to the UK mainland at no charge, with the date agreed in advance rather than turning up unannounced. The Delivery tab sets out the full zone and handling detail.

FAQs

One big gripe - those

"One big gripe - those lights are very difficult to screw in. I had to get a flat screwdriver and twist it horizontally to widen the gap, just to get them started. Also the glass shelves sag under their own weight. Other than that it looks good."

Great display cabinet. One of

"Great display cabinet. One of about 7 we’ve purchased from Displaysense over the past few years. Unfortunately this one arrived with a tiny component missing and a small chip on one of the glass doors. Displaysense telephoned me a few days after delivery and on hearing about the problem they arranged to send me the missing component and reimburse me the cost of getting a replacement door. Great customer service. Would order from them again."
