A Double-Sided Feather Flag That Stands Firm on Hard Ground

Most forecourts, car parks and shop fronts are solid tarmac or paving, which is exactly where a ground spike has nothing to bite into. The FF3200DC answers that with a drive-on steel base: a flat plate you set down and pin in place under a vehicle wheel, so the flag stands steady on hard standing without a single fixing. Both faces are printed on separate panels and split by an inner blockout layer, so your logo reads the right way round from either side rather than showing a washed-out mirror image to anyone behind it. The glass fibre pole curves into the familiar sweeping feather shape and gives with the wind instead of resisting it. Best suited for car dealership forecourts, petrol stations and retail parks where the ground is a hard surface such as tarmac, concrete or paving.

Why This Flag Earns Its Place on Your Forecourt

  • A correct-reading graphic on both faces: Each side prints on its own panel, separated by a blockout layer, so traffic from either direction reads your branding the right way round and never a faded copy bleeding through from behind. You supply the artwork and the print is handled for you.
  • Anchored by a vehicle, not the ground: The heavy steel base lies flat on tarmac, concrete or paving and locks down the moment a wheel rolls onto its lip. That is what lets the flag stand on the hard standing found at almost every forecourt and car park, with no spike, ballast or tools involved.
  • A pole that gives rather than gives way: Glass fibre keeps the mast light and elastic, and the slim GRP whip at the tip lets it bow into shape and flex through gusts. Wind slides over a bending pole and snaps a rigid one, which is why this design stays up when stiff signs are brought in.
  • Holds its own in a stiff breeze: Rated to fly in winds up to 45 kph (28 mph), Force 6 on the Beaufort scale. Where a sudden gust sends lighter displays indoors, this flag keeps working through the changeable weather a British forecourt sees from one week to the next.
  • A height that fits under cover and indoors: Tall enough to rise above parked cars and pull the eye, low enough to sit beneath a forecourt canopy or inside an exhibition hall. It claims attention on the tighter pitches where a five metre flag would never clear the space.
  • Folds away into the bag it arrives in: The pole breaks into sections and the flag rolls into the supplied bag, so one person can lift it into a car and store it flat once the day is done. A 1 year guarantee covers it against manufacturing faults.

The Businesses That Fly This Feather Flag Every Day

Car Dealerships and Forecourts Raises finance deals and model offers over a yard packed with vehicles, where signage at eye level gets lost. The base rests on the forecourt tarmac and a stock car pins it down, so it works on the very surface every dealership already has.
Petrol Stations and Service Areas Points drivers toward your shop, jet wash or food counter as they pull off the road. With nothing to push into the ground, the weighted base sits safely on the paved apron and moves to a fresh spot the moment you need it to.
Retail Parks and Shopping Centres Pulls cars off the access road and walks shoppers toward your unit. Standing on the hard car-park surface, its two printed faces greet arrivals from either direction and lift one shopfront clear of a row of similar units.
Exhibitions and Indoor Showrooms Gives you a tall marker on a hall floor or showroom where a spike has nothing to grip. The shorter mast clears ceiling rigs and lighting, and both faces stay legible to visitors walking past in either direction.
Shop Frontages and High Streets Turns the pavement outside your door into space for an offer, launch or seasonal push. Held down from above rather than fixed in, the base leaves the paving untouched while giving the shop a presence that carries along the street.
Outdoor Events on Hard Standing Signs entrances, bars and stalls across paved arenas, yards and showground hard standing. The base drops into position in moments, the flag rides the breeze without fuss, and the whole lot folds back into its bag for the next date.

Pitching on Grass or Soft Ground?

The drive-on base relies on a hard, level surface beneath it. Setting up on a lawn, verge or field instead calls for the same flag fitted with a ground spike base, a steel stake that drives straight down into soft ground. Identical flag, different way of standing it up.

FF3200DC is a 3.2m double-sided glass fibre feather flag from Displaysense, supplied with a drive-on steel car base and printing on both faces. Its differentiator is a weighted base that stands the flag on hard surfaces where a ground spike cannot be used. Height 3200mm, width 605mm. Printed graphic 605mm x 2620mm per face. Built from a glass fibre pole with a GRP whip, a polyester flag and a steel car base, inner pole diameter 16.8mm. Holds in wind up to 45 kph (28 mph), Beaufort Scale 6. Sets up by hand in roughly two minutes, with a carry bag and a 1 year guarantee in the box. Suited to car dealerships, petrol forecourts, retail parks, exhibitions and shop frontages nationwide. A single-sided version and a ground spike base for soft ground are also available. Displaysense, UK display product specialists since 1978.

The give-away on a budget flag is the back of it. A single layer of fabric lets the print soak through, so anyone standing behind reads a pale, reversed version of your logo. This one is built differently. Two polyester panels are printed individually and sewn either side of a central blockout layer that blocks light passing between them. The pay-off is a sharp, right-way-round graphic on each face and a flag that looks intentional from wherever it is seen, which is the whole reason to run print on two sides.

Wind is what defeats most outdoor signage, and a feather flag answers it by flexing. The mast is glass fibre, fine glass strands bound in resin to form a rod that is light yet elastic, and it finishes in a GRP whip, a slimmer and even more bendable tip. When a gust arrives the whip and mast curve over and let the air slide past, then straighten once it has gone. Put a rigid pole in the path of that same gust and it cracks. That contrast is why the flag keeps its sweeping curve and stays standing in winds of up to 45 kph (28 mph), a strong breeze. Every mast in the range shares a 16.8mm inner diameter.

Anchoring happens without touching the ground at all. The base is a flat steel plate carrying a raised tongue, which you slide under a parked wheel so the vehicle's weight pins the whole thing down. The mast seats into the base and turns freely, letting the flag swing round to follow the wind. Because the car does the holding, the same setup works on tarmac, paving, concrete and even indoor flooring, the hard surfaces a spike can never enter. The single condition is a firm, level surface beneath it, so grass and soil are jobs for the ground spike version instead.

Colour is locked in with heat rather than laid on as a film. Dye sublimation vaporises the ink so it sinks into and bonds with the polyester threads, becoming part of the cloth itself. That bond is why the graphic shrugs off sun and rain, and why the flag can be folded away time after time without the design flaking or lifting. Each face carries a printed area of 605mm by 2620mm. Send across your artwork, both sides are printed for you, and putting it together on arrival takes around two minutes with nothing more than your hands.

Total Height 3200mm (3.2m) Rises above parked cars and catches the eye from across a forecourt, while staying low enough to sit under canopies, shop fronts and inside indoor halls that a five metre flag would overshoot. A practical height for tighter pitches.
Width 605mm A narrow upright profile that keeps the shape tall and legible while slotting into the gaps between parked vehicles, pumps or shop units where a wider display would not fit.
Display Type Double-sided Two independent faces both read forwards, so nobody behind the flag sees a reversed logo and traffic approaching from either direction takes in the same clear message.
Printed Graphic Size 605mm x 2620mm per side A generous full-height canvas on each face. Match your artwork to this size and both sides come back printed and ready to raise.
Pole Material Glass fibre with GRP whip Light and elastic. The bendy whip lets the mast bow in a gust and recover, where a stiff pole would crack, keeping the flag aloft outdoors.
Inner Pole Diameter 16.8mm The shared fitting across the whole feather range, so masts, bases and replacement parts swap freely between any flags you already run on site.
Base Drive-on steel car base A weighted plate for tarmac, concrete and paving. Set it on any hard surface and roll a wheel onto the lip to pin it. For grass or soil, pick the ground spike version.
Flag Material Polyester, dye-sublimation printed Ink bonds into the weave instead of coating it, so colour holds up in sun and rain and the flag folds away repeatedly without the print lifting.
Wind Resistance Up to 45 kph (28 mph), Beaufort 6 Stays flying through a strong breeze as the flexing mast spills wind that would tip a rigid sign. Bring it in for severe or gale conditions.
Assembly No-tool, around 2 minutes One person raises or stows it in a couple of minutes, with nothing to screw, bolt or dig, so it is up the moment you arrive.
In the Box Flag, drive-on car base, carry bag The flag, its base and a bag to move it all arrive together, with no extra parts to track down before the first outing.
Guarantee 1 year A full year of cover against manufacturing faults from the date of purchase, so it can go to work outdoors with complete peace of mind.

Frequently Asked Questions About This 3.2m Feather Flag

Q: What is the best feather flag for a car dealership forecourt?

A: For a dealership forecourt, the FF3200DC fits best. Its drive-on steel base rests on the tarmac and a stock car holds it down, so no soft ground is needed, and with both faces printed your offer reads correctly to drivers arriving from the road or the entrance. It goes up in roughly two minutes.

Q: How does the drive-on car base hold the feather flag steady?

A: The base is a weighted steel plate with a raised lip. Set it on a hard surface, roll a vehicle wheel onto the lip, and the car pins it firmly in place. The mast slots into the base and turns freely with the wind. Nothing is driven into the ground, and there are no fixings or sandbags to handle.

Q: How does the promotional flag cope with strong gusts?

A: By flexing. The glass fibre mast and its GRP whip bow over in a gust and let the wind slide past, then recover once it drops, so the force never builds up the way it would against a rigid pole. The promotional flag is rated to keep flying to 45 kph (28 mph), Force 6 on the Beaufort scale. Bring any freestanding display in for gales.

Q: Is this outdoor marketing display suitable for petrol stations and retail parks?

A: Yes. Forecourts and retail parks use it to signal a shop, wash or unit to drivers crossing their paved aprons and car parks. Because the weighted base needs no ground to enter, it stands safely on hard standing, and the two printed faces reach traffic coming from both directions.

Q: Can this branded flag be used at exhibitions and in indoor showrooms?

A: Yes. The drive-on base works on the solid floor of a hall or showroom, where a spike has nothing to grip. At 3.2m the mast clears the room without catching lighting rigs, giving you a tall marker that visitors can pick out from across the floor.

Q: How quickly does it set up, and will it fit in a car?

A: Around two minutes by hand. The mast sections push together, the printed banner slips over them, and the assembly drops into the car base. Stowing it is the reverse, and everything rolls into the carry bag supplied, light enough for one person to load into a car boot.

Q: What height is this feather flag and how big is the printed area?

A: It stands 3200mm, or 3.2m, a compact size that suits canopies and indoor halls. Each face has a printed area of 605mm x 2620mm, which is the size to supply your artwork at. The narrow 605mm width keeps the shape tall and easy to read without taking up a wide pitch.

Q: What is the difference between the double-sided FF3200DC and single-sided FF3200CB?

A: Both share the same 3.2m mast and drive-on car base, and only the print sets them apart. The FF3200DC carries a separate, forward-reading graphic on each face with a blockout layer between. The single-sided FF3200CB prints a single face and leaves a faint reversed image on the back, at a lower price. Pick double-sided where the display is approached from both sides, single-sided where it only ever faces one way.

Q: Do I really need a double-sided flag?

A: That depends on how it is seen. Where people pass on both sides, like a forecourt island or an open car park, double-sided keeps the branding forward-facing from every angle. Where it backs onto a wall or only ever faces the road, a single-sided version covers the job at lower cost.

Q: Will the print fade or wash out outdoors?

A: No. Dye sublimation drives the colour into the polyester fibres rather than coating the surface, so it stays vivid through sun and repeated rain and survives being folded away without cracking. Stowing the outdoor marketing display in severe weather adds further life to the graphic.

Q: Does this custom printed banner come with free UK delivery?

A: Yes. It ships with free UK mainland delivery. Displaysense has supplied display products to UK businesses since 1978 and dispatches from its base in Hertfordshire. The banner turns up printed and ready to build, with the drive-on car base and carry bag packed alongside it.

Q: Are there taller heights or a soft-ground base option?

A: Yes. The same feather flag is made in a taller 5m and a shorter 2.3m, plus a single-sided version for one-way viewing. Where the pitch is grass, soil or a verge, a ground spike base takes the place of the car base and drives straight into the soft ground.

Guides for Feather Flags and Outdoor Event Marketing

Few outdoor tools earn their keep like a well-placed feather flag, but the placement and the message are what decide whether it works. The guides below dig into pulling a crowd at events, getting noticed on a busy exhibition or market pitch, and matching the format to the venue, so your flag does the drawing-in instead of fading into the scenery.

Why This Flag Earns Its Place on Your Forecourt

FAQs
