The Double-Sided Feather Flag That Towers Above the Crowd

A feather flag turns open ground into a landmark you can spot from across a car park. The FF5000DS is the tallest flag in our range, and it prints on both faces so your branding reads correctly whether people approach from the left or the right. Where a single-sided flag shows a backwards, mirror image of your logo to anyone behind it, this one carries a separately printed graphic on each side, divided by an inner blockout layer so the two faces never show through one another. The flexible glass fibre pole arcs into the classic curved feather shape and sways with the breeze instead of fighting it, while the steel ground spike pushes straight into soft ground for a freestanding stand with nothing to bolt down or weigh up. Best suited for vehicle forecourts, outdoor events and exhibitions where you need to be seen from every direction and the ground is soft enough to take a spike.

Why This Flag Earns Its Place on Your Forecourt

  • Double-sided graphic printing included: Two separately printed faces mean your message reads the right way round from both directions, with no faded mirror image on the back. The printing is part of the product, so you supply artwork and the flag arrives ready to fly.
  • Towering height that carries a long way: At full stretch this is the tallest flag we make, lifting your branding well above parked cars, crowds and competing stands. People pick it out from the far side of a busy forecourt or showground, long before a ground-level sign would register.
  • Glass fibre pole with a GRP whip that bends, not breaks: The thin flexible whip section at the top lets the pole curve into shape and flex in gusts, so the flag rides the wind rather than snapping against it in the conditions that flatten rigid signs.
  • Rated to handle real outdoor weather: Built to stay flying in winds up to 45 kph (28 mph), a strong breeze on the Beaufort scale. While lighter displays get packed away, this flag keeps working through the changeable conditions that outdoor sites throw at it day to day.
  • Steel ground spike for fast, freestanding setup: The spike drives into soft ground and holds the flag upright on its own, with no base to fill, no sandbags and no fixings to source. Assembly takes about two minutes with no tools, so it is working the moment you reach the pitch.
  • Packs down into the carry bag it ships with: The whole flag breaks down and slides into the included bag, so one person can move it between sites in the boot of a car and store it flat between events. Every flag is backed by a 1 year guarantee against manufacturing faults.

The Businesses That Fly This Flag Every Day

Vehicle Forecourts and Dealerships Lifts your offers and finance messaging high above a forecourt full of cars, where a ground-level sign vanishes. The double-sided print works whether drivers arrive from the road or the entrance, and the spike sets into the grass verge in minutes.
Outdoor Events and Festivals Marks your stand, entrance or bar across a crowded field so visitors navigate straight to you. The spike drives into festival ground in seconds, the flag holds its shape in an open breeze, and it packs back into its bag ready for the next event.
Exhibitions and Trade Shows Raises your brand above the noise of a packed showground or outdoor expo. Both faces read correctly to visitors passing in either direction, turning a standard pitch into something people can find from across the site.
Retail Parks and Out-of-Town Stores Catches passing traffic and directs shoppers in from the access road or car park. Tall enough to clear parked vehicles and signage clutter, with a spike that sets into the planted borders common to retail park sites.
Estate Agents and Show Homes Flags a viewing, open day or new development from the roadside so prospects spot it before they drive past. Sets into a grass verge or front lawn and moves easily to the next site once the property sells.
Garden Centres, Pubs and Attractions Draws families in from the road to seasonal events, beer gardens and special openings. The soft, planted ground at these venues is ideal for the spike, and the height makes the flag visible long before the turning.

Flying It on Tarmac or a Hard Forecourt?

The ground spike needs soft ground to anchor into. If your pitch is tarmac, concrete or paving, the same flag is available with a drive-on car base instead, a heavy steel plate you park a wheel on to hold the flag steady on any hard surface. Same flag, different footing.

The Displaysense FF5000DS is a double-sided 5m glass fibre feather flag with a steel ground spike base and double-sided graphic printing included. The flexible glass fibre pole and GRP whip let the flag curve into its classic feather shape and bend with the wind instead of snapping. Overall height 5010mm. Width 690mm. Finished graphic 690mm x 3860mm per printed side. Polyester flag, glass fibre pole, steel ground spike base. Inner pole diameter 16.8mm. Withstands winds up to 45 kph (28 mph), Beaufort Scale 6. No-tool assembly in about 2 minutes. Carry bag and 1 year guarantee included. Trusted for vehicle forecourts, outdoor events, exhibitions, retail parks, market stalls and hospitality venues across the UK. Also available single-sided and with a drive-on car base for hard surfaces. Displaysense, UK display product specialists since 1978.

Look at a cheap flag from behind and you see your own logo reversed and ghosting through the fabric. That never happens here, because of how the two printed faces are built. This flag uses two separately printed polyester panels with a blockout layer sewn between them, so each side shows a crisp, correct-reading graphic and neither face shows through to the other. Your branding looks deliberate from every angle, which is the whole point of putting a flag where people see it from both directions.

Rigid signs fight the wind and lose. A feather flag wins by bending with it, and the pole is what makes that possible. It is made from glass fibre, a composite of fine glass strands set in resin that is light but springy, finished at the top with a GRP whip: a thin, extra-flexible tip section. In a gust, the whip and pole bow over and spill the wind rather than taking the full force head-on, then spring back when the gust passes. That flex is why the flag holds its curved feather shape and keeps flying in winds up to 45 kph (28 mph), a strong breeze, instead of cracking like a fixed mast would. The inner pole diameter is 16.8mm, the standard fitting across our feather flag range.

No water to fill, no sandbags to lug, no bolts to drill. The flag anchors on a single steel ground spike, a stake that pushes vertically into grass, soil, sand or any soft ground. The flag pole drops onto it and rotates freely, so the flag always turns to trail downwind. Because the spike does the holding, there is no weighted base to cart around or fill, which keeps the whole setup light enough to carry and quick enough to move between pitches. The trade-off is simple: a spike needs penetrable ground, so a hard surface such as tarmac calls for the drive-on car base version instead.

Heat, not a surface coating, is what fixes the artwork into this flag. The graphic is printed by dye sublimation, a process that turns the ink into vapour so it bonds into the polyester fibres rather than sitting on top. The colour becomes part of the fabric, which is why it stays bright through sun and rain and why the flag can be folded into its bag without the print cracking or peeling. The finished printed area is 690mm by 3860mm on each side. You supply the artwork, we print both faces, and the flag arrives ready to assemble in about two minutes with no tools.

Frequently Asked Questions About This 5m Feather Flag

Q: What is the best feather flag for outdoor events and exhibitions?

A: For outdoor events and exhibitions, the FF5000DS is the strongest choice. At 5 metres tall it marks your stand across a crowded field or showground, and the double-sided print reads correctly from both directions. It drives into soft ground on its steel spike in about two minutes and folds back into the included bag afterwards.

Q: How does a feather flag stay upright in the wind?

A: A flexible glass fibre pole topped with a GRP whip lets the flag bend with the wind instead of resisting it. In a gust the pole bows over and spills the wind, then springs back. That flex is why it keeps flying in winds up to 45 kph (28 mph), where a rigid mast would crack.

Q: What stops the pole snapping in high winds?

A: The flexible glass fibre pole and GRP whip stop it: they bend with the wind rather than resisting it. In a gust the pole bows over and spills the wind, then springs back, so it keeps flying in winds up to 45 kph (28 mph), Force 6 on the Beaufort scale. Take any freestanding flag down in gale-force conditions.

Q: Is this outdoor marketing display suitable for pub gardens and garden centres?

A: Yes. Pubs, garden centres and visitor attractions use it to draw passing traffic to seasonal events, beer gardens and special openings. The soft, planted ground at these venues is ideal for the steel spike, and the 5 metre height keeps the flag visible from the road long before the turning.

Q: Is this flag suitable for car dealerships and petrol forecourts?

A: Yes. Dealerships and forecourts use it to lift finance offers and promotions above a yard full of vehicles, where a ground-level sign disappears. The double-sided graphic works from both the road and the entrance, and the spike sets into the verge or grass border alongside the forecourt in minutes.

Q: How long does assembly take, and does it pack down for transport?

A: About two minutes, with no tools. The pole sections slot together, the flag sleeves over the pole, and the assembly drops onto the ground spike. It breaks down just as fast and folds into the included carry bag, light enough for one person to carry between sites in a car boot.

Q: How tall is the flag and what size is the printed graphic?

A: 5010mm (5 metres) tall, the largest in the range. The printed area is 690mm x 3860mm on each side, and you supply artwork to that size for both faces. The slim 690mm width holds a tall, readable shape without needing a wide pitch to stand in.

Q: What is the difference between the double-sided FF5000DS and single-sided FF5000SP?

A: Both are 5 metre flags on the same glass fibre pole and steel ground spike; only the print differs. The FF5000DS prints a separate, correct-reading graphic on each face with a blockout layer between them. The single-sided FF5000SP prints one face and shows a faint mirror image on the reverse, for less cost. Choose double-sided when the flag is seen from both directions, single-sided when it only ever faces one way.

Q: Do I need a double-sided flag, or will single-sided do?

A: It comes down to sightlines. If people see the flag from both directions, such as a forecourt island or an open event field, double-sided keeps your branding correct-reading from every angle. If it sits against a wall or only faces the road, a single-sided flag does the job for less.

Q: Will the printed colours fade in the sun and rain?

A: No. The graphic is printed by dye sublimation, which bonds the colour into the polyester fibres rather than coating the surface. That is why it stays bright through sun and rain and survives folding into its bag without cracking. Taking the flag down in severe weather extends its working life further.

Q: Is this custom printed banner available with free UK delivery?

A: Yes. Free UK mainland delivery is included. Displaysense is a UK display specialist that has supplied businesses since 1978, dispatching from its Hertfordshire base. It arrives printed and ready to assemble, with the ground spike and carry bag in the same pack.

Q: Are there shorter heights or a hard-surface base option?

A: Yes. The same flag comes in shorter 3.2m and 2.3m heights for tighter spaces, and a single-sided version where the flag only faces one way. For hard surfaces such as tarmac or paving, a drive-on car base replaces the ground spike, holding the flag steady under a vehicle wheel.

Guides for Feather Flags and Outdoor Event Marketing

A feather flag is one of the most cost-effective ways to be noticed outdoors, but a flag only works as hard as the thinking behind where you place it and what it says. These guides cover how to draw a crowd at events, stand out at exhibitions and busy market pitches, and choose the right format for the job so your flag pulls people in rather than blending into the background.

In the Box Flag, ground spike base, carry bag Everything needed to fly the flag and move it between events arrives in one pack, so there are no extra parts to source before your first use.
Guarantee 1 year Covered against manufacturing faults for a full year, so you can put it to work outdoors with confidence.

FAQs
