The Tallest Double-Sided Feather Flag for Forecourts and Roadsides

On a busy road the flag that gets seen is the one that climbs highest above the traffic, and this is the tallest feather flag in the range. The FF5000DC lifts a slim, tapering blade of branding well over parked cars and forecourt clutter, carried on a curved glass fibre pole that stands on a flat drive-on base. You roll a vehicle wheel onto the plate and its weight pins the flag down, with no stake and no digging. Each face is printed on its own panel around an opaque core, so the message reads forward to drivers coming from either direction. With nothing set into the ground, it stands straight on tarmac, paving and concrete. Best suited for car dealerships, retail parks and petrol stations where the surface is hard and a vehicle can hold it in place.

Why This Feather Display Wins the Roadside

  • A full graphic on each face: Two printed faces are bonded around an opaque core that blocks the light between them, so each side carries its own correct image and neither reads through pale and backwards. With traffic approaching from both ends of the road, the offer lands right-way-round for every driver, and the print is part of the order, so you send art and it comes back finished.
  • A base a vehicle anchors: The flat steel plate has a foot the pole drops into, and you park a car, van or trailer wheel on top of it. The vehicle's weight does the holding, far more securely than a portable weight could, so nothing is dug in and nothing carried once a wheel sits on the plate.
  • The greatest reach in the range: Standing tallest of all the feather flags, it carries your branding higher than any parked vehicle or signage clutter, to where a driver picks it up from far down the road. On a fast or busy approach that height is what buys you the extra seconds of attention.
  • A slim blade that reads from afar: The tapering feather shape gives a tall, upright line of branding on almost no width, so it stands out across a forecourt or car park without taking up a bay or blocking a sightline.
  • A pole that gives in the wind: The glass fibre mast and its GRP whip bow and recover in a gust rather than standing stiff, so out on an exposed forecourt the flag rides a wind of up to 45 kph (28 mph) where a rigid pole at this height would fail.
  • Quick to shift around the site: Drive the wheel off and the flag frees at once; the pole breaks into sections and the fabric rolls into the bag supplied, so one person moves it without tools. A 1 year manufacturing guarantee is included as standard.

Where This Forecourt Banner Earns Its Place

Car Dealerships and Showroom Forecourts Lifts a finance deal, a plate-change offer or a launch above the stock so drivers spot it from the road. A wheel from any forecourt vehicle holds the base on the hard standing, and the tall blade reads from the far side of a dual carriageway.
Retail Parks and Roadside Stores Pulls shoppers off a busy road toward a unit, an opening or a sale. The height clears the parked cars between the road and the door, and a vehicle on the base keeps it upright on the tarmac through the trading day.
Petrol Stations and Service Areas Flags a forecourt shop, a wash or a food offer from the pump island or the slip road. The drive-on base sits firm on the concrete apron, and the double-sided print reaches drivers arriving from both directions.
Trade Counters and Builders Merchants Marks a yard entrance or a counter offer across a hard-surfaced forecourt where stakes will not go. A delivery van or a customer car weights the base, and the tall flag is read from the road by passing trade.
Car Parks and Drive-Through Lanes Guides drivers to an entrance, a lane or a rate from a paved car park. A parked or marshalling vehicle holds the base on the surface, and the height steers traffic in from right across the lot.
Event Car Parks and Hard Standing Directs arrivals at a show or a venue from a tarmac or hardcore car park. The base takes a steward's vehicle wheel, the flag stands above the parked rows, and the whole lot folds into a bag to travel between events.

Heading Onto Grass Instead?

A drive-on base only works on hard ground with a vehicle to weight it. Where the pitch is a lawn, verge or field, the same tall feather flag is offered with a ground spike base that drives into soft earth instead, giving you the same blade and print on a footing for grass.

Not certain which base fits your ground? Call 01279460460 or drop us a message and we will help you decide, or quote for a run across forecourts.

FF5000DC is a 5m double-sided glass fibre feather flag from Displaysense, the tallest in the range, supplied with a drive-on car base and printing on both faces. Its differentiator is maximum height anchored by a vehicle wheel rolled onto the base, made for hard surfaces with no stake to drive in. Height 5010mm, width 690mm. Each printed face spans 690mm x 3860mm. Built on a glass fibre pole with a GRP whip at the tip, a polyester flag and a steel drive-on base; inner pole diameter 16.8mm. Stands up to winds of 45 kph (28 mph), Beaufort Scale 6. Stood up by hand in about two minutes, with a carry bag and a 1 year guarantee in the box. Suited to car dealerships, retail parks, petrol stations, builders merchants and event car parks. A single-sided version, a ground spike base for soft ground, and shorter 3.2m and 2.3m sizes are also available. Displaysense, UK display product specialists since 1978.

Because the back of a one-layer flag shows the design faint and reversed, this one is made differently: two printed faces are bonded around an opaque core that blocks the light between them. Each side then carries its own full, correctly-read graphic, independent of the other. For traffic that approaches a forecourt from both ends of the road, printing both faces is what keeps the message legible to drivers coming either way, not only those heading in one direction.

A feather flag is the tall, narrow blade that tapers to a tip, flown from a pole that curves up its leading edge. It is the shape that reaches highest for the least width, a slim upright that drivers catch from a long way off. The pole is glass fibre, fine glass strands bound in resin to stay light and springy, and it is finished with a GRP whip that lets the top flex in the wind. The inner pole diameter is 16.8mm throughout the range, so parts carry across between flags, letting masts, bases and spares interchange across a forecourt set.

It is held down by a drive-on base, a flat steel plate the pole foot drops into. You set the plate on hard ground and park a vehicle wheel on top, and the weight of the car does the rest, holding far more securely than any portable weight could. Since the anchoring comes from the wheel and not a stake, the flag is made for hard standing: forecourts, car parks and paved frontages. With no soft ground in play, grass is the one place it cannot stand, and there the ground spike base is the version to choose instead.

The print is fixed by dye sublimation, a heat process that turns the inks to gas so they sink into the polyester and dye the fibres themselves rather than coat the top. A graphic locked in like that keeps its colour through sun and rain out on an open forecourt and survives repeated rolling without lifting. Each face is printed across an area of 690mm by 3860mm, the largest blade in the feather range. Send the artwork over, both sides are printed for you, and the flag is up by hand in around two minutes.

Specification Detail What This Means for You
Total Height 5010mm (5m) The tallest flag in the range, lifting your branding clear above parked cars and signage to where drivers catch it from far down a fast or busy road.
Width 690mm A slim tapering blade that reaches its full height on almost no width, so it reads from a distance without swallowing a parking bay or blocking the line to your frontage.
Display Type Double-sided Each face reads the right way, so drivers from either approach take in the same offer and none ever catch a faint, reversed logo on the back.
Printed Graphic Size 690mm x 3860mm per side The largest blade in the feather range, a tall canvas on each face. Set your artwork to this size and both sides return printed and ready to raise and anchor.
Pole Material Glass fibre with GRP whip Built to flex, not snap. The curved mast shapes the tall feather blade, and the whip lets the long pole bend in a gust and recover even at full height.
Inner Pole Diameter 16.8mm A common fitting across the whole flag range, so poles, bases and spare parts swap freely with the other feather and teardrop flags on the forecourt.
Base Steel drive-on car base A flat plate held down by a parked vehicle wheel, anchoring the flag on hard ground with no stake. On grass, the ground spike version is the one to use, and it grips the earth directly.
Flag Material Polyester, dye-sublimation printed The colour dyes the fibres rather than sitting on top, so it holds through sun and rain on an open forecourt and rolls away without flaking.
Wind Resistance Up to 45 kph (28 mph), Beaufort 6 Holds through a strong breeze as the flexing mast spills the wind rather than toppling, even at full height. Bring it down before severe or gale-force weather sets in.
Assembly No-tool, around 2 minutes One person raises it in a couple of minutes, with nothing to screw or bolt; a wheel rolled onto the base is all that anchors it.
In the Box Flag, drive-on car base, carry bag The flag, its drive-on plate and a bag for the fabric arrive together, ready to raise anywhere a vehicle can sit on the base to hold it down.
Guarantee 1 year Manufacturing faults are covered for a full year from delivery, backing the flag right through a season of forecourt and roadside use.

Frequently Asked Questions About This 5m Feather Flag

Q: What is the tallest feather flag for a dealership or retail park forecourt?

A: The FF5000DC is the tallest in the range, which makes it a strong forecourt pick. At 5m it lifts branding well above parked cars to drivers far down the road, its drive-on base takes any vehicle wheel to anchor it on hard standing, and both faces are printed, so it reaches traffic from either direction.

Q: How does the drive-on car base anchor the flag?

A: The base is a flat steel plate with a socket the pole foot drops into. You set it on hard ground and park a car, van or trailer wheel on top, and the vehicle's weight pins it in place. Nothing is staked or bolted, so to move it you roll the wheel off and lift the plate away.

Q: Will it stand on grass without a vehicle?

A: No. The drive-on base relies on hard standing and a parked vehicle, so on its own it will not hold on grass or soil. For soft ground, pick the ground spike version, which sinks a stake into the earth. This car base model belongs on tarmac, paving and concrete.

Q: Is this outdoor marketing display suitable for petrol stations and builders merchants?

A: Yes. Petrol stations stand it on the concrete apron to flag a shop or wash, while merchants mark a yard entrance from a hard forecourt. The drive-on base holds firm on the surface, weighted by a parked vehicle, and the tall double-sided blade reaches traffic from both directions.

Q: Can this feather flag be used in a car park or event parking area?

A: Yes. A steward's or a parked vehicle weights the base on tarmac or hardcore, and the 5m height steers arrivals in from right across the lot. It stands above the parked rows where a shorter display would be lost, and folds into a bag to travel between venues.

Q: How do I put it up, and can one person manage it?

A: It takes about two minutes by hand. The pole sections join, the printed banner sleeves over them, and the pole seats into the base; you then park a wheel on the plate to anchor it. One person builds it, and the fabric and pole roll into the carry bag to move around the site.

Q: How big is this flag, and what is the printed area per side?

A: It stands 5010mm, around 5m, the tallest flag in the feather range. Each face is printed across 690mm x 3860mm, the largest blade in the range and the size to set your artwork at. That full height is built to read from the road at the distance traffic passes a forecourt.

Q: What is the difference between the double-sided FF5000DC and single-sided FF5000CB?

A: These two share the drive-on car base, so the print is what sets them apart. The FF5000DC prints a separate, forward-reading graphic on each face around a blockout core, reading correctly from both sides. The single-sided FF5000CB prints one face, shows a faint reversed image on the back, and costs less. Go double-sided where vehicles pass the forecourt in both directions.

Q: Is double-sided worth it on a forecourt?

A: It turns on the road layout. Where vehicles come from both directions, double-sided shows the offer the right way to each of them and doubles your readable frontage. On a one-way approach, or with the flag set against a wall, a single-sided banner does the same for less.

Q: Does the height make it harder to keep stable in wind?

A: Not within its rating. The flexing glass fibre pole sheds wind all the way up its length, so even at 5m the flag rides a breeze of up to 45 kph (28 mph) without toppling, held firm by the vehicle on the base. In severe or gale-force weather, lower it to be safe.

Q: Is free UK delivery included on this feather flag?

A: Yes. It is dispatched with free UK mainland delivery. Displaysense has supplied display products to UK businesses since 1978 and ships from its Hertfordshire base. The flag reaches you printed and ready to build, with the drive-on base and carry bag in the same delivery.

Q: Are there smaller sizes or a base for soft ground?

A: Yes. The same feather flag is made in shorter 3.2m and 2.3m heights, and in a single-sided version for one-way viewing. On grass, soil or a field rather than hard standing, a ground spike base takes the place of the drive-on plate to hold it in the earth.

Guides for Feather Flags and Forecourt Visibility

A feather flag is a cheap way to claim a busy roadside, but its place on the forecourt and the message it flies decide how many drivers it turns into customers. The guides below look at grabbing attention at events, standing out among rival displays, and picking a format that suits the setting, so your flag pulls traffic in rather than streaming past unnoticed.

FAQs
