A Versatile Double-Sided Feather Flag That Spikes Into Grass

A feather flag carries a tall, tapering line of branding that the eye picks up clear across an open space, and the mid-height FF3200DS sets that shape on a spike for soft ground. Its curved glass fibre pole rises from a steel stake that pushes into grass or soil, so it stands with no base to weigh down or carry, light enough to plant a whole row along the edge of an event. Both faces are printed on their own panels around an opaque core, so the design reads forward whichever way people walk in. The mid-range height is tall enough to be seen across a field yet easy for one person to lift and move. Best suited for outdoor events, garden centres and sports grounds where the ground is soft and the display needs to stand on a stake alone.

Why This Feather Display Suits Outdoor Pitches

  • A full graphic on each face: Two separately printed skins are sealed either side of a blockout core, so both sides show a strong, true image with nothing showing through. Around a showground where the audience comes from every angle, that keeps the message the right way round for all of them, and the print is included, so you send art and it returns finished.
  • A stake that holds in soft earth: Rather than a weighted plate, a steel spike drives into grass or soil and the pole drops onto it, so the ground holds the flag with nothing extra to assemble. There is no heavy base to lift, which is what lets you plant a line of them along an entrance or a route in minutes.
  • A height that handles easily: Taller than the compact flags but well short of the largest, the mid-range size reads across a field while staying light and manageable for a single person to carry and pitch. It is the all-round outdoor height for crews who set up and strike often.
  • A tapering blade that reads from afar: The feather shape gives a slim, upright line of branding that stands out down a row of stalls or across a car park, taking up almost no ground while drawing the eye upward to the message at the top, which is what makes it read where a low sign would be lost in the crowd.
  • A pole that bends in the wind: The glass fibre mast and its GRP whip flex and recover in a gust instead of standing stiff, so out in the open the flag rides a breeze of up to 45 kph (28 mph) where a rigid pole would snap off.
  • Light to carry, fast to strike: With no base in the kit, the pole breaks into sections and the fabric rolls into the bag supplied, so one person pitches or packs the flag in a couple of minutes without tools. A 1 year guarantee guards against manufacturing faults.

Where This Outdoor Banner Does Its Best Work

Outdoor Events and Show Fields Lines an entrance, a route or a stage area across a grassy site, where weighted bases would be a burden to cart about. The stakes go in fast, the flags read from all sides, and the whole set folds into bags to move on to the next show.
Garden Centres and Plant Nurseries Flags a seasonal range or an offer out among the beds and the car park edges. The spike pushes into a border or verge in seconds, the flag stands without a base in the way, and it pulls free cleanly when the display is reset.
Sports Clubs and Touchlines Brands a touchline, a clubhouse approach or a tournament field on turf. The stake grips the playing surface, the mid height keeps the flag clear of play and sightlines, and it travels light to away days and fixtures.
Festivals and Fairgrounds Marks a bar, a zone or a stall row on a festival field. A line of them planted along a path guides the crowd, each one reading from both sides, and a single pull lifts every stake when the site comes down.
Forecourt Verges and Grass Margins Catches passing trade from the grass strip beside a unit or a road. It stakes into the soft margin where a plate would sink, stands on next to no footprint, and reads to traffic from either direction.
Open Days and Property Launches Signals a development, a viewing or an open day from a lawn or a roadside verge. It goes into soft ground without digging, draws attention from both sides, and comes away just as fast once the day is done.

Pitching It on Tarmac Instead?

The spike needs soft ground to grip. Where the pitch is tarmac, paving or a forecourt, the same mid-height feather flag comes with a drive-on car base that a vehicle wheel holds down instead, giving you the same blade and print on a footing for hard surfaces.

FF3200DS is a 3.2m double-sided glass fibre feather flag from Displaysense, supplied with a ground spike base and printing on both faces. Its differentiator is a mid-height feather on a spike that drives into soft ground, with no weighted base to carry. Height 3200mm, width 605mm. Each printed face spans 605mm x 2620mm. Made from a glass fibre pole carrying a GRP whip, a polyester flag and a steel ground spike; inner pole diameter 16.8mm. Rides out winds to 45 kph (28 mph), Beaufort Scale 6. Pitches by hand in about two minutes, with a carry bag and a 1 year guarantee in the box. Suited to outdoor events, garden centres, sports clubs, festivals and open days. A single-sided version, a drive-on car base for hard surfaces, and taller 5m and shorter 2.3m sizes are also available. Displaysense, UK display product specialists since 1978.

Build a flag from a single layer and the print reads backwards and washed out on the reverse. This one is made from two separately printed skins sealed either side of a blockout core, so both faces show a strong, true image with no see-through. Around a busy showground, where the audience arrives from every angle, that two-sided finish keeps the message the right way round for all of them rather than only the people facing the front, which is the whole reason to print both sides at a roaming outdoor event in the first place.

The feather flag is the tall blade that tapers toward the top, carried on a pole that curves up its leading edge. It is the shape that gives the most height for the least ground, a slim upright that reads from clear across a field. The pole is glass fibre, fine glass strands set in resin to stay light and springy, and it is tipped with a GRP whip that flexes in the wind. The inner pole diameter is 16.8mm right across the range, so parts carry over between flags, letting you mix poles, spikes and spares across a set without hunting for matching fittings.

It stands on a steel ground spike rather than a weighted base. The stake drives down into grass or soil and the pole drops onto it, so the earth itself holds the flag and there is no plate to carry or build. That keeps each unit light, which counts when you are planting a line of them along an entrance or a route. The catch is that a spike needs something to bite into, so on tarmac or paving the drive-on car base is the version that works instead, holding the same flag down with the weight of a parked vehicle rather than the grip of the earth.

Printing is by dye sublimation, where heat turns the ink to gas and pushes it into the polyester so it stains the fibres themselves instead of lying on the surface. A graphic set in this way holds its colour through sun and rain at an outdoor pitch and survives being rolled away after each event without flaking. Each face prints across an area of 605mm by 2620mm. Supply the artwork, both sides are produced for you, and the flag goes up by hand in about two minutes, with no tools to find and no fixings to lose out on a windy field.

Specification Detail What This Means for You
Total Height 3200mm (3.2m) A mid-range height that reads across a field or car park, while staying light and short enough for one person to pitch and strike with ease.
Width 605mm A slim tapering blade that holds a clear message on almost no ground, so a whole row of them lines a route or an entrance without crowding the space people walk through.
Display Type Double-sided Each face reads forwards, so a crowd moving around the flag sees the same branding from any side and never a reversed logo on the back.
Printed Graphic Size 605mm x 2620mm per side A full-blade canvas on each face, running nearly the length of the flag. Set your artwork to this size and both sides return printed and ready to pitch straight from the bag.
Pole Material Glass fibre with GRP whip Springy, not stiff. The curved mast carries the feather shape, and the whip lets the pole bow in a gust and spring back rather than breaking.
Inner Pole Diameter 16.8mm The shared fitting across the whole flag range, so poles, spikes and spare parts swap freely with the other flags in your kit.
Base Steel ground spike base Drives into grass or soil to hold the flag with no weight to carry. For tarmac or a forecourt, the drive-on car base is the one to choose.
Flag Material Polyester, dye-sublimation printed Colour is dyed into the fibres rather than coated on, so it holds through sun and rain outdoors and rolls away after each event without flaking.
Wind Resistance Up to 45 kph (28 mph), Beaufort 6 Keeps standing through a strong breeze as the flexing mast spills the wind rather than toppling. Strike it ahead of severe or gale-force conditions to be safe.
Assembly No-tool, around 2 minutes One person pitches or strikes it in a couple of minutes, with nothing to screw or bolt and only the spike to press into the ground.
In the Box Flag, ground spike base, carry bag The flag, its spike and a bag for the fabric travel together, light enough to carry a row of them out to a field in one go with no weighted bases to drag behind.
Guarantee 1 year Covered against manufacturing faults for a full year from delivery, for confidence right through a season of outdoor events.

Frequently Asked Questions About This 3.2m Feather Flag

Q: What is the best mid-height feather flag for outdoor events on grass?

A: For grassy events the FF3200DS is a versatile pick. Its steel spike drives into soft ground so there is no base to carry, and at 3.2m it reads across a field while staying light enough to plant in a row. Both faces are printed, so each flag works from every side as the crowd moves around it.

Q: How does the ground spike anchor the flag?

A: The spike is a steel stake that drives down into grass or soil, and the pole drops onto it once it is in. The ground itself holds the flag, so nothing needs weighting or bolting. You press it in by hand or with a foot, and a single pull lifts it out when the event finishes.

Q: Can it be used on a hard surface like a forecourt?

A: No, the spike needs soft ground to grip, so it will not stand on tarmac, concrete or paving. For those hard surfaces, choose the drive-on car base version, which a vehicle wheel holds down. This spike model is made specifically for grass, soil and other soft outdoor ground.

Q: Is this outdoor marketing display suitable for garden centres and sports clubs?

A: Yes. Garden centres push it into a border or verge to flag a seasonal range, while clubs stake it along a touchline or clubhouse path. The spike grips turf and soil, the mid height keeps it clear of play and sightlines, and the double-sided print is read from both directions.

Q: Can this feather flag be used at a festival or county show?

A: Yes. On a festival field or showground the spikes go in fast with no weighted bases to haul, which is what event crews want. A line of flags planted along a path guides the crowd, each reading from both sides, and the whole set packs into bags to travel between sites.

Q: How quick is it to put up, and is it easy to move?

A: It takes roughly two minutes by hand. You push the pole sections together, slide the printed banner over them, and press the spike into the ground. With no weighted base in the kit it stays light, so one person carries several out to a field and pitches them without tools.

Q: What height is it, and how big is the print?

A: It stands 3200mm, around 3.2m, the mid-range height in the feather range. Each face prints across 605mm x 2620mm, the size to set your artwork at. The tapering blade gives a tall line of branding on a footprint slim enough to plant in a tight row.

Q: What is the difference between the double-sided FF3200DS and single-sided FF3200SP?

A: These two run the same ground spike, so the print is what differs. The FF3200DS prints a separate, forward-reading graphic on each face around a blockout core, reading correctly from both sides. The single-sided FF3200SP prints one face, shows a faint reversed image on the back, and costs less. Pick double-sided where a crowd circles the flag from all around.

Q: Do I need a double-sided feather flag outdoors?

A: It depends on the spot. Out in the open where people pass and gather on every side, double-sided keeps the branding forward-facing from each angle. Set in a row against a fence or backdrop where only the front shows, a single-sided promotional flag does the job for less.

Q: How does it stand up to wind and rain?

A: Well, within its rating. The springy glass fibre pole lets wind pass instead of resisting it, so it stays up in a breeze to 45 kph (28 mph), and the dye-sublimation print is set into the fabric so rain and sun do not lift the colour. In severe or gale-force weather, strike it to be safe.

Q: Does this promotional flag come with free delivery in the UK?

A: Yes. Every order ships with free UK mainland delivery. Displaysense has supplied display products to British businesses since 1978 and sends them out from its Hertfordshire base. Your flag turns up printed, with the ground spike and carry bag boxed alongside it, ready to put together.

Q: Are there other sizes or a base for hard ground?

A: Yes. The same feather flag is made in a taller 5m and a shorter 2.3m, and in a single-sided version for one-way viewing. Where the ground is hard, a forecourt or car park rather than grass, a drive-on car base replaces the spike to anchor it on the surface with a vehicle.

Guides for Feather Flags and Outdoor Event Branding

A feather flag is a low-cost way to stake your name across an outdoor pitch, but the spot you pick and the message you fly decide how many heads turn. The guides below cover grabbing attention at an event, standing out on a crowded show or market field, and matching the format to the setting, so a row of flags draws the crowd in rather than fading into the field of marquees.

FAQs
